As a little girl, from about age 5 on up, I remember listening to my mom on the phone with various of her siblings. My mom was a stay at home mom and was always on the phone, always gossiping about something. It could be comparing me and my sister and our physical looks/personality traits, how so and so in church was in reality a bad horrible Christian and probably demon possessed, and of course talking about politics: Republicans, Democrats, the end of the world, how all Democrats are possessed by demons and of Satan and if the Democrats won it was all over for us and we would be waiting in line to have our heads chopped off by the guillotine. One thing that really sticks in my mind in my routine eavesdropping of my mother, one day they were talking about if the Democrats won, was Carter or Mondale or something, how they would torture all Christians and how it would be just like it was in other countries that are already Satanic. They spoke of babies being taken from the arms of their mothers, then thrown up in the air as high as they could throw them, and just letting them crash into concrete. They spoke of taking children, tying the arms and legs of the child to 2 or 3 horses, and then they would direct all the horses to run in different directions and the child would be ripped apart...
Although I don't think all Democrats are like my mom described them to be when I was young, seriously speaking, Hillary comes pretty close.

I remember my mom love of idiotic end of the world gossip she loved to perpetuate with some aunties and my grandma, come new years eve 1999 we were hosting a party, no kids my age but a bunch of old crones scaring the poor little kid that I was with their cretinious ramblings(fuck, I don`t experience the primal fear type of stuff but as a child, as any I was susceptible to parental authority and they abused the fuck out of it by talking this stuff with me just next room, by the age I was back then I took their words literaly, didn`t help our news station was doing same big scare few hours before to boost their ratings) but everything came to a happy conclusion when dad suprised me all of a sudden throwing me the copy of the first Unreal Tournament straight on my desk... I got so lost playing AS Overlord as to not even notice that when I got tired it was someting past 3 am and satisfied that apparently all the hags were wrong, I went quietly to sleep.
The moral of this piece being: Never discuss apocalyptic, millenialist crap when your 12 year old is listening, you just might scar the poor kid for life.
It doesn't matter if those conversations are hysterical nonsense, delusional and completely detached from reality, or giving in to desperate need for explicit pornographic martyrdom fantasy.

As a very young student back in 1977, I was doing a couple of years at a university in Europe. There, I was a member of a musical group that was planning a trip to Poland. When my grandmother back in the States heard about this, she went absolutely ballistic. She was totally and irreconcilably convinced that I would never get out of Poland alive. She was absolutely sure that the Communists randomly killed people in the streets and that I, as an American, would immediately be targeted, dragged off to some dungeon, tortured, and brutally murdered.
When in fact nothing happened, she said it was because the Communists were afraid of openly harming US citizens since that would cause WWIII.
The trip took place while Carter was president. Even while in Poland (for a few days) we didn't hear anything about the mass murder of Christians in the US, not even wild propaganda. Questioned about this, I guess my grandmother would have said that the Poles would have published it, but that Communists were all illiterate and couldn't run a printing press, didn't have any paper, ...

PRL as we called it wasn`t THAT bad, certainly better than a lot of other republics and about by that point we actualy started to get original pepsi and such, we had dollar stores(something else than you`d think, those were stores where you needed US dollars to pay but they stored all the capitalist produced goodnes we poor polacks could not get elswhere, pevexes they were called and my first true lego set came from there as well as our first colour sony tv since my dad had the privledge of working for the western corp even before the wall fell, he still works for them to this day), we were hardly killed in the streets even during the riots and the martial law of the 80s there were relatively few casualities. Paper of all things as well as(fully legal at the time) weed was in full supply at the time, unlike food(well, aside from beets, turnips, potatoes, vinegar and schnaps) but we did manage. My mom used day old newspapers instead of actual diapers on me though. Yeah all you spoiled american brats, that is how we had it behind the curtain, now go and thank your parents you were rised in the free world. ;)

Well, considering the fact that the government is, in reality, pretty much identical all around, it doesn't really say anything good about your mother when she claims that only half of the government was evil and the other half not. Governments are just the tribal instinct gone horribly, horribly overboard, just like technology is an overactive toolmaking instinct and farming... well, I'm not sure where the hell farming came from, considering how blatantly and extremely unnatural it is to do. I guess it might be the instinct of self-determination somehow extended to the food supply? I dunno. But whatever the case may be, governments are pretty much a bad idea all around, and religions even worse, so tiffanybw is pretty thoroughly corrupted by modern ideas.

Hey, I never did and I turned out, well semi-all right. She still gets pains since I renouced her church and her god but as a progresive catholic she still believes I`m going to purgie after my demise(emphatic, loving and never really hurt anyone outside of some baseball bat to the face, apparently that is all her priest tells her is enough to get updated from hellfire to purgie), so she`s not even bothered with her favourite daughter being hellbound(though she should for what I said and hold true about her god).

So letme get this straight: This Individual thought of any Democrat-Gouvernment since Carter was running that said gouvernments would start rounding up and executing christians, even though not one had even jokingly suggested anything even remotely close to actual religious persecution of christians? And this Individual still hasn't start thinking about if maybe, just maybe this premise is dumb (since the vast majority of theUSelectorate is christian and people usually don't fancy being executed) ? Is it really possible to be that divorced from reality?
To sum up: I would bet everything that no one alive today will ever live to see a US Gouvernment that actively persecutes christians - simply because it would be political suicideat the very least.
