[On the abortion bill in Texas]

On June 25, the final day of the FIRST special session, pro-life leaders watched and waited in the Senate gallery surrounded by orange clad pro-abortion supporters. We’d already tolerated Sen. Wendy Davis’ 11-hour filibuster followed by more delaying tactics by several other Democrat Senators. Then near midnight, Sen. Leticia Van de Putte’s hostile comment about women not being recognized on the Senate floor, triggered a response from the pro-aborts. They stood, applauded and yelled at the top of their lungs. Their excruciatingly piercing screams could only be compared to what evil must sound like emanating from the pit of hell.

You have no idea what evil sounds like. But really, you should.

It doesn't sound like a bunch of people exercising their right to protest people like you who would deny them access to basic health services or even contraception (don't bother lying--that's your next target after abortion is finally outlawed across the land). It doesn't sound like people frustrated and horrified and fed up with their leaders patiently chipping away at every hard-won right they fought and bled for and even died for for more than a century.

No, it sounds like a sweetly-reedy old biddy preaching honeyed words of hatred at her own gender as she encourages them, bit by bit, to surrender their agency and autonomy. It sounds like an elderly plastic-faced evangelist with a fake smile that never quite touches his eyes and given entirely too much of a soapbox as he raises fever-dreams of theocracy in his flock, and instills in them a slow-growing hunger to drive the infidel, the heretic, the blasphemer into the sea at the point of a bayonet. It sounds like the chanting of slogans and the thunder of marching jackboots, and rifles firing and the agonized screams of the dying.

Do you know what that sounds like? You should. Evil sounds like just you

Roe vs. Wade. 1973.

2013. Why hasn't the Repubican Party done everything in it's power - especially via the likes of the Ford, Raygun, Bush I & Dumbya administrations - between then & now to repeal that?

40 years.

Plenty of time for something to be done; infinite chances for a mere 'law' to be repealed/overturned (can you lot say 'DADT', 'DOMA' et al? I know you can). Go ahead. Ask yourself why nothing has been done against Roe vs. Wade.

You may not like the only possible answer when you do, which is precisely why the Repubican Party hasn't done anything.

The US Constitution which enforces Roe vas. Wade. The same legal basis of your country that protects your religions' very right to exist.

Unlike several of you here I AM pro-abortion, not just pro-choice. Abortion is 100% necessary in a modern society and it cannot be outlawed.

Incidentally, this is not some vast conspiracy by the liberal elite media, these are unstoppable and irreversible social forces at work. People are getting married later and later in life because you now have to go to school into your early and mid-20's if you want to be competitive in the modern market place and are therefore unable to support a family. It is horrible social policy to make laws that expect human beings to be sexually mature for a decade and to not have sex. It just will not happen. Therefore we need more access to birth control and more access to abortions.

Yep, that's right. I'm pro-abortion. I'm pro-abortion when a woman wants or needs one according to her circumstances. Like for her health. Or her finances, due to the fact that "Christian conservatives" have cut aid to the poor so low that a woman has to be down to her last forty bucks to qualify, and then still receives so little that she can't keep food on her kids' table for an entire month or clothes on their backs. Or because she needs to complete her education. Or because her impregnator abuses her. Or maybe she just doesn't want kids. Or for any of a thousand other reasons that are none of your fucking business.

You are not "pro-life". You are fighting to reverse decades old law that will result in thousands of women dying from infection, blood loss, and other complications of back-alley abortions, the same as they did before abortion was legalized. You won't be reducing the numbers of clumps of cells that will be removed from women's uteri, you will be directly contributing to the suffering and deaths of other women. You, lady, are evil.
