The music industry is now much smarter than it was in the days of Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and Slayer.
No, the industry is pretty much the same. Money talks.
Your daughter is not likely to love Marilyn Manson and erect an idol to Satan in her bedroom. Your son will not likely consecrate his baby to Lucifer and baptize him in goat’s blood.
Depends. Just how miserable did you make his childhood with your 'biblically inspired' rules, punishments and relentless Christpunching?
Overt Satanism is out of style.
It was never actually in style, though there is a large worldwide community of Satanists of many types, most of whom are extremely nice, non-homicidal people.
However, young people are likely to exchange their Christian faith for sexual license.
Humans are sexual beings. Christianity only focuses on basic human needs/behaviors because if you can control those, you can control the entire person. The focus is primarily on young girls, though. I have yet to see a christian family that puts so much emphasis on 'purity' in regard to their sons. Boys will be boys, dontcha know...
The stats show that young people will likely exchange the sacramental life and liturgy for the liturgy of sexual experimentation.
Or maybe it's just because they grow weary of suppressing their completely natural and healthy physical needs in favor of your restrictive and oppressive religious beliefs.
And that’s exactly why this song has become an American anthem. The devil doesn’t needs a league of heavy metal Satanists. He’d almost prefer to have people mocking the Christian sacraments and ritual.
You don't need the music industry's input for that. You set yourselves up for it with your smug, arrogant ignorance and inability to understand basic human interactions. Telling people they're going to hell for simply being themselves and making your home such a miserable environment that your children can't wait to get old enough to escape it makes you a target for ridicule. Don't like it? Develop some empathy for people different from yourself, accept that we're all different and that diversity is a good thing, and be less of a judgmental fucking asshole.
If God isn’t real “If the Heavens ever did speak” then the only goods to be enjoyed in this life are the pleasures of food and sex. That’s all there is left for humans to experience transcendence. Hozier gets it and he sings for us a catchy hymn.
Way to completely misinterpret lyrics that are clear to almost everyone else. There is a bit in there about 'Pagans' too, but I didn't get all bent out of shape over it. I actually understand the intent, though. You just saw the title of the song and ended up in a fit of self-righteous indignation.
Where would you people be without something innocuous to become outraged about?
