The controlled enviroment offers clean needles, emergancy medical care if needed, and the purity of product is assured, And speaking as a recovering heroin addict who lost two close friends when someone decided to cut their heroin with battery acid the purity issue is of great concern. Heroin withdrawl causes is hell and cause spikes and drops in blood pressure that can lead to heart failure or stroke as well as a range of other problems, and frankly it makes more sense to ween people off of it in a controlled enviroment under the care of a physician. Not too mention most addicts who try to quit cold turkey can't deal with the withdrawl symptoms and end up using again

Have you been a heroin addict desperate to get clean but can't find a bed at a detox, or can get accepted into a methadone program? If your answer is no then kindly shut your fucking mouth.

You do realize that at a constant dosage heroin isn't all that destructive to the human body. Heroin addicts can function normally, they can hold a job and go about their business just fine. I should know, I spent 10 years of my life doing so. And for pain management cases it's very practical because they can't quit using opiates if they want to continue functioning without crippiling pain. Just because a person is an addict it doesn't mean that they are criminal scum, would you consider an amputee who uses heroin or morphine due to constant intense phantom limb pain to be a bad person for wanting to have their pain releaved?

No one is saying that it's "normal". It's called harm reduction, it's taking the addict out of the enviroment where they could be harmed, either by third parties, or by bad product. It's taking heroin addicts out of the criminal element and making the drug availible in such a way that an addict doesn't have to commint crimes to aquire it.

No forcing anyone else to do heroin or any other drug. If a person choose to indulge in a substance of their own free will, and that indulgence harms no one else then it's nobody else's business, least of all yours.
It must be treated from the "heart" as a spiritual problem and not as a physical problem.
Been there, done that, have scars to prove it. Treating addiction as a "spiritual" problem is laughable at best, I've seen how that is done, and telling an addict that if they relapse then they can just "ask for forgiveness and it will all be ok" isn't a very good motivator to stay clean.
Telling people that if they just ask "god" to take their addiction away that he will do so is setting them up for a fall when the addiction doesn't "just go away". The usual response to that is to tell the addict that they weren't sincere enough, or did believe hard enough and that the cravings and withdraw symptoms are their fault because they didn't have enough faith. That can send an addict into a downward spiral of depression and self loathing where they see themselves as having been forsaken by the "god" that they were told would heal them, these situation almost always have deadly consequences.

Harm reduction and murder cannot be compared to one another in this context, all you are doing is making a very bad slippery slope arguement about a subject in which you have no knowledge or personal experience.
