Everyone has a religion and a god. Yours religion is atheism and your god is nature, albeit a false version of nature, one based on the fabrications darwinists make about nature which give it powers that it does not have in reality.

Everyone has a religion and a god. Yours religion is atheism and your god is nature
"Navaros", did you just involuntarily admit that this "god" you are talking about is a human invention?
When you claim that our "god" is allegedly nature, you say implicitly that "god" is something that somebody can choose for himself. Or in other words: "god" is a human invention. Nothing but a cultural phenomenon.
Were your christian "god" really the "universal truth", I would have no other choice but to accept him. Obviously this isn't the case.
Of course, in Navaros's quote, there's no truth or logic or basic understanding of language, other than the fact that language can be a quick method of disseminating lies, as well as being an excellent indicator of the user's mental health and intelligence.
But, for the sake of argument, let's assume that Navaros's drivel is true. If so then:-
Nature = is reality.
Christian God = fantasy.
Nature = an environment in which we must survive.
Christian God = the dread figurehead (albeit an invisible one) of a sad and evil death cult.
Nature = the only known realm of existence.
Christian God = the psychotic authority figure who whisks people off to other fantasy realms, all of them unpleasant sounding, except to a snarling psychopath.
Nature = the closest approximation to truth as far as humans are concerned.
Christian God = the supremacy of drooling morons who want to be staring-eyed tent commanders.
Good grief, after 4 years, good old Narvie is STILL going on about the exact same things. I don't get why the IMDB boards don't kick him out, he's a broken record and completely deaf to counterarguments.
For the last god-damned time...
ATHEISM IS NOT A FUCKING RELIGION. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK FUCKING SKULLS ALREADY.
*Ahem*, sorry about that little outburst. I'm better now.
Everyone has a religion and a god.
Stop telling me what I think and believe at once.
When you do, I'll stop beating you into the ground while explaining to you the concept of arrogant presumption.
Yours religion is atheism
re·li·gion
noun \ri-'li-j?n\
Definition of RELIGION
1: the state of a religious <a nun in her 20th year of religion> b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance
2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
3 archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness
4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
Only the archaic definition is even remotely usable toward atheism (even then an atheist is not necessarily scrupulous) and I doubt that's the one you're using.
your god is nature
god
noun \'gäd also 'go?d\
Definition of GOD
1 capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: as a : the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe b Christian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind
2: a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require human worship; specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality
3: a person or thing of supreme value
4: a powerful ruler
So we clearly don't worship the Christian god so definition 1 does not apply and nature is not a person so 3 and 4 go out the window. That leaves us with 2 and it contradicts your statement as nature cannot, by definition, be a god as it cannot be beyond itself.
Non-belief isn't a religion dumbass. Does one's lack of belief in Bigfoot or the Chupacabra, two cryptids commonly felt to have not met their burden of proof for official acknowledgement, constitute a religion too?
This moronic yet infuriatingly evergreen meme, the idea that non-belief in a God or what the hell ever requires either the same or more faith than a belief in God or what the hell ever, will never go away, because morons think it's a devastating argument.
If you have two options, "belief" and "non-belief", and the "belief" option hasn't met its burden of proof, it will never take the same or more faith to choose "non-belief". This is true for anything, including God/the supernatural.
Theism = a belief in one or more gods.
A-theism = NOT-a belief in one or more gods
The question is, are you redefining atheism or god? I call foul on your definition of god. You state god is nature which changes the definition of god to the point where it has no real meaning. A pair of trousers could be a god. "I worship the trousers that cling to him..." Navaros, I think your bewitched, bothered and bewildered.
"Everybody worships something" part 232,536,734.
If atheism is a religion, why can't I declare my house a church and get tax-exempt status?
Well, 'Bizaros'...As a Wiccan, I say "God & Creation" are one-and-the same!
You, however are a IMDB Troll.
Just because I believe that destroying our only habitable planet before finding another within traveling distance is not in humanity's best interest does not make nature my god.
Destroying nature will not suddenly make your nonexistent god appear.
Funny, I don't recall praying to any personifications of nature within my lifetime. I guess I'm doing this whole non-religious thing wrong then.
I don't recall anyone in the scientific community claiming nature has supernatural properties. Indeed, that falls outside of the natural world by definition. What 'powers' are you dreaming up?
"Everyone has a religion and a god. Yours religion is atheism"
Pop quiz, hotshot: Where are our 'churches'? What is our Bible? And who, pray, do we pay our 'tithes' to?! You tell me. And if we Atheists are in a 'religion', then who's going to pay our tax rebate, backdated, and with interest? You & your fundie ilk? It's you who make that initial claim after all. Better unchain those wallets then, Navaros and co. - because you've got untold billions to fork out to us.
...what's that? You aren't ? Well then. I guess Atheism isn't a 'religion' then.
And you've just annihilated your own argument, Navaros.
PROTIP: Here in the UK, $cientology isn't officially recognised (certainly legally) as a religion. Thus the Orgs here have to pay tax. So, what was that you were saying, Navaros?
Nature is not a 'god'. Nature just is.
Nature is a lot more powerful than us, yes. We are nothing more than very tiny and insignificant lifeforms inhabiting a little rock orbiting a small and very ordinary star which is just one among countless billions of stars. If the Earth was destroyed tomorrow, it would be a disaster for us (to say the least), but a very minor and insignificant event as far as the universe was concerned.
But nature is not a being. Atheists don't believe that nature has any 'intelligence'. If you believe that the power of nature is directed by an intelligence or a purpose of some sort, then you are not an atheist.
Navaros, you are wrong as usual. I have no gods. None.
I don't revere or worship nature, I accept it for what it is. We are a intricate part of it and this is the only planet we will ever know.
What I don't accept is the supernatural, which you have accepted in full without the benefit of any evidence.
Now who is the delusional one?
I can't tell you how incredibly happy I'd be if all Christians understood that we atheists didn't worship anything. If it's not nature, then they claim that we worship ourselves, material items, science, or whatever. Seems they just can't understand the concept of going through your day without worshipping something.
[Everyone has a religion and a god. ]
No they do not.
[Yours religion is atheism and your god is nature...]
There are various religions that worship nature, atheism is not one of them.
"Everyone has a religion and a god. Yours religion is atheism and your god is nature...."
Navaros, you are really displaying ignorance here. Didn't you ever go to school and study Latin and Greek? Atheist is from Greek, 'a' being a negativing prefix, 'theist' being to do with a god. Put them together as 'atheist' and you get someone who does not have a belief in a god. No god = no religion. The Latin 'religio' originally means a superstition. It says a lot about religion, although the meaning has changed for some.
So stop twisting language because of your ignorance. You should be ashamed to make such a naked display of it.
Clearly, you do not understand what "atheist" means. "Atheist". An-theistic. IE: Non-religious. And if you honestly believe evolution is not a valid scientific concept, I cordially invite you to go bathe in a MRSA culture and see how well you fare against evolved bacteria (I may add, bacteria that evolved after only a few decades selection pressure from man-made pharmaceuticals).
I think Navaros'll be a goldmine of stupidity for the quotes section.
I know this guy. If we accept quotes from him, pretty soon he'll overrun this board. And frankly, between him and Schlafly, I may lose all will to live.
Everyone has a religion and a god.
No, they don't. You are simply taking your own view on life life and imposing it on the world, as if everyone must be just like you. But it is simply not true and to insist that it is just because you say so is the very height of arrogance coupled with abject ignorance.
Yours religion is atheism
Atheism is a descriptor for those people who respond "no" to the question "Do you belive in a god or gods " and nothing more. Atheism has no tenets, no theology, no scriptures, no inherent or inviolable precepts. In short, there is nothing that atheism has in common with anything that carries the label "Religion" .
and your god is nature
Then by all means, point out what part of atheism advocates or requires the worship of nature.
albeit a false version of nature, one based on the fabrications darwinists make about nature which give it powers that it does not have in reality.
Darwin is not the father of atheism, nor is the theory of evolution integral to atheism. Atheism exists independent of evolutionary theory. Atheists have existed for as long as people have created gods for them to not believe in. If the theory of evolution were roundly disproven there would still be atheists.
I suppose one could say, in a metaphorical sense, that my "god" is nature. I certainly do pay close attention to it and know I will be injured if I break any of it's laws. Your god can't even cure a hangnail no matter what you sacrifice to him, but we have these rituals called "scientific procedures" that have given us some nifty superpowers, like nuclear fission and space flight.
"Everyone has a religion and a god. Yours religion is atheism and your god is nature"
So who the fuck do you think you are trying to tell me whether or not I have religion, what my religion is, and who/what my god is?
So do we get to tell you what religion yours is and what god you worship?
“Everyone has a religion and a god.”
And you know this because….?
“Yours religion is atheism”
That’s a lot like saying YOUR religion is theism. That’s not what atheism MEANS.
“and your god is nature,”
Exactly what do i do to propitiate Nature? How do i try to influence it to change outcomes?
"albeit a false version of nature, one based on the fabrications darwinists make about nature which give it powers that it does not have in reality.”
Darwin is not perceived as a god, prophet, or pope. Just an early Scientist. He made mistakes, and lacked some basic information. We don’t worship him or worship anything through him.
Calling people who accept evolutionary theory ‘darwinists’ just proves you know sweet fucking bupkes about what you’re talking about. And lying.
Confused?
