[Trick or Treat]
We're ready! We ordered some tote bags that say "Jesus Loves you" and 100 Bibles. We put the Bibles, a Salvation bookmark, some tracts with puzzles, and candy in the tote bags. Last year it was very awkward trying to stick a Bible in each kid's pumpkin (they don't fit!) and I'd end up just handing it to them. ...
Say what you will about Halloween, it's an excellent witnessing opportunity, and I love to see the kids' faces light up when you hand them the candy and Bible! They think the candy is the best thing they're getting, and I know I'm giving them something a lot better and more important.

You're like the guy who gives children rulers and protractors, except a hundred times worse.
Halloween is a terrible witnessing opportunity! If you start handing out big books, the kids are just going to ignore everything but the candy, and then they'll tell their friends not to stop by your house. Nobody wants to get a homework assignment when they go Trick-or-Treating.
I'd like to see a kid dressed up as crucified Jesus show up at this fundie's door. Or, like, Eve before the fall, or even better, Lilith.
At least she's giving them candy. The Fundie on out street would just give us Jack Chick tracts and lectures. At least the kids can use the candy.
I shouldn't complain. She introduced me to the greatness of Jack Chick.
I had a dentist on my block, he used to hand out (unflavored) floss. For some reason every year he did that kids threw eggs at his house.
be damn sure you don't run out of candy lady.
I know my parents would have laughed hysterically if I came home with a bible in my candy bag. I know exactly what neighbours would have given it to me too. They're totally snotty and won't let their dog sniff my dog through the fence because my dog is a mixed breed. Wait a minute- Mrs. Capling, is that you!?
Instead of just rotting their teeth, you'll also rot their brains. Nice.
We had some weird people in my old neighborhood, but I kiss Hank's ass in gratitude that I never got a Bible for Halloween.
I see more fundies posting reponses to these quotes, than the actualy writers of them.. Perhaps not fundies of the same beliefs system, but fundies non the less. Try respecting the fact that these people believe that this book is the incarnate trth of life. Don't just simply pass it of as toilet paper or kindling, even if what they believe might sound stupid or offensive to them. You're just lowering yourself to their level.
And when they get home, their parents say "who's this sanctimonious, holier-than-thou dickwad who thinks he has to teach my kids religion? What, does he think we're a bunch of atheists and my kids need his help 'cause he's better than us? Fuck him!"
So the kids really are are taught a valuable lesson: that the guy up the street is an asshole religious nut and they better stay away well from him.
Try respecting the fact that these people believe that this book is the incarnate trth of life.
Rowenn, Most of us here are bummed out by that fact. To us, that means these people have relinquished two very important human assets, understanding and freedom.
I am a Thomasine or Gnostic Christian, which is to say, a junior partner of a subjective Christ that is more true than the poisoned bible version. [Poison, I tells ya! POISON!!!1!] I recently stumbled upon the Nag Hammadi stuff, which basically confirmed what I had figured out on my own, over the last 45 or so years without a bible .
[apologies ft No True Scotsman, btw]
Having been an avid Sunday Schooler, I probably wouldn't have thought twice.
Then again, I would have told you I was allergic just like I did with raisins and apples.
I have to wonder why people like this think that kind of thing is alright. Sticking junk in kids' treat bags so they can find it later and be 'enlightened.'
All the more reason parents should check what the kids collect.
How much do Bibles cost these days? Let's go low and say $5.00. Let's say there are just 50 kids comming by your house (low again, we get at least a hundred - they car them out to the suburbs from the inner cities  )So, that's $250.00 just for the Bibles, another $50.00 for candy - I admire you putting your money where your mouth is!
Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for an evening.
Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
Nice one, you don't mind if i give your children some copies of the edda when they come collect their candy? Oh, they are not allowed to come?
Most of our kids are wise enough to enjoy fairy tale books but don't mix them up with reality, if they are old enough to go out to get some sweets on helloween. Is this true for yours too? No?
Delicate things, those brainwashed little minds.
"We're ready! We ordered some tote bags that say "Jesus Loves you" and 100 Bibles"
Jesus never existed, shit-for-brains.
I don't mind if someone gives me cool stuff for free, like candy and a new tote bag - and I'm an adult. As for the rest of the contents, well, almost every street corner has a trash can.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
