A PERSON WHO DENIES the existence of God is smarter than Einstein? Washington, Columbus ?....Ben Franklin? Scripture records, A FOOL Says there IS no God?..........my son used to say that and I explained what a foolish argument it was.........And I Said to Him say you do not know........or you don't feel close to Him Do Not Add lying to your other sins.....you can not truly believe there is no God unless you are a fool ,and you are smart, therefore lying to the world and to yourself. A FOOL Says there IS no God?.
Smart ones, like me, ask for evidence for your god. Do you have any?
"A person can know there is a God but there is no evidence that there is no God"
You could have at least used punctuation to end that sentence. Then again, maybe you used up your allotment of punctuation with all those dot-dot-dots earlier in your rant.
That said, you fail to understand the concept of the burden of proof. By this standard, there is no evidence that there are no tiny pink elephants. So you believe in tiny pink elephants, you pompous ass? Also, there's a verse in your Bible that says you'll go to hell for calling someone a fool.
Let me see, following your logic, I, a Christian, consider myself more intelligent than Carl Sagan or Bill Gates. Or more intelligent than Einstein, for I don't convert myself to Judaism. Or than Washington for not being Episcopalian, or than Columbus, for not "living in sin", or than Ben Franklin for not being a Deist. And that goes without mentioning Averroes or Indian philosophers.
Spinoza's God FTW.
The bible's god, FAIL.
History you are doing it wrong.
Einstein = Deist
Washington = Deist at best
Columbus = Thought he got to India, so fuck him
Ben Franklin = Atheist
SO, the 'moral' of the story... you are made of fail!
Using a pantheist, an Episcopal (not particularly pious), a Catholic, and a deist to prove that God exists and fundie Christianity is the One True Religion = FAIL.
Einstein didn't believe in your fairy tale god. He was a pantheist. Completely different things. Of course, if a fundy sees that someone smart and important believes in a "god", they shit all over themselves to prove it's their god. They only spout the "atheists are fools" because they are so fucking stupid without a reason, and are trying to stroke their egos.
"Einstein? Washington, Columbus ?....Ben Franklin?" Deist, Deist, did nothing involving intelligence, deist.
Your point?
In my understanding of science and the way the universe works, I'd say I've got Franklin, Washington and Columbus beat, just like everyone who finished highschool.
Does that above verbiage that you suppose to be some sort of logical statement convince you? Just wondering, because it is practically unintelligible for a start, and certainly wouldn't convince anybody else. The only thing that most people would derive from the aforesaid statement would be that it's author was a complete idiot.
It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously. I also cannot imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere.... Science has been charged with undermining morality, but the charge is unjust. A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.
-- Albert Einstein, "Religion and Science," New York Times Magazine, 9 November 1930
Well, lets assume there is a god.
To which of the hunge number of deist religions does he belong?
To the pauline christian religion? Very improbable as a smart person will, upon reading the bible, discover that it contradicts reality.
Same goes for judaism and islam.
So the best bet would be some undefined type of god, that isn´t restricted by a single religion. As others already mentioned, Einstein believed in spinozas god, some kind of deity that is immanent to nature/universe.
Well, so if you don´t think that you are smarter than Einstein, you should give up your beliefs in an old testamentary avenging god who created earth 6k years ago and is separate of his creation but instead believe in a god immanent to the universe (and also part of everyone of us) ;)
And I Said to Him . . . Him Do Not Add . . . Absolutely Capital, Sir! Capital!
I believe in random, because random is my belief. Capitals, question marks, ellipses upon ellipses . . . they must exist, because my belief says they do. I cannot deny them because that would make me a FOOL.
Er, wait . . .
fergus
Scripture records, A FOOL Says there IS no God?
Yes, actually it does say that. Surely a bible scholar like yourself would have been able to look up the quote. Why ask us?
"my son used to say that and I explained what a foolish argument it was.........And I Said to Him say you do not know........or you don't feel close to Him Do Not Add lying to your other sins.....you can not truly believe there is no God unless you are a fool ,and you are smart, therefore lying to the world and to yourself. A person who doesn't believe in the Olympian Gods is smarter than Aristotle? Plato? Socrates? A FOOL says there is no Zeus.
And Columbus wasn't that smart. Confusing the Caribbean for Indonesia seems pretty stupid
Man, someone needs a lesson in logic. If a fool says there is no god, it does not follow that all who say there is no god are fools.
Sharks live in the water but not all that live in the water are sharks. See?
The complete absence of evidence for the existence of something is not conclusive proof, but it sure as fuck isn't evidence that the something in fact exists. There's no evidence for pink unicorns therefore pink unicorns probably exist is the sort of argument only a brain-dead fundie could find compelling.
A PERSON WHO DENIES the existence of God is smarter than Einstein? Washington, Columbus ?....Ben Franklin?
Not necessarily smarter , but perhaps just a bit more informed . Because (thankfully) the growth and development of human knowledge and understanding didn't stop at those people.
Although, Columbus ? Smart? You really don't know your history very well, do you? The guy who was meant to find a new route to China yet ended up like 10,000 miles to the west of it, was smart ? Resourceful; perhaps, lucky; most certainly, but smart; probably not very much.
Well...you didn't actually "explain" anything. You just called him a fool. Repeating something, even in all caps, is not an explanation. It would be so simple to prove your point. Just show us any evidence of god.
No, I said "evidence", not argument.
Confused?
