Why has Proff.Hawkins set up an Atheist camp for kids... christian style. he's all over our stuff, AGAIN.?
I read it in the express yesterday. a little tiny column with a beaming picture of the Proffessor.
He plans to let them enjoy gentle outdoor pursuits while pressing unto them the teachings and beliefs of Atheism in the Gren and pleasant lan which is Gods garden, in Gods own backyard... wow, thats rude.

Could you get it any more wrong?
1. It is Professor Dawkins, not Hawkins.
2. Prof. Dawkins is not setting up an atheist camp for kids. That is being undertaken by another organization, and Dawkins has made a small financial contribution. That is his only involvement.
3. Prof. Dawkins has not been involved in planning anything on the camp.
4. The children will not be 'pressed' into believing anything. The whole POINT of the camp is to ensure that children are NOT indoctrinated by people who try to press their own beliefs on them. They will be taught to think critically about all philosophies - atheistic and theistic. The decision regarding what to believe is entirely theirs.
5. Prof. Dawkins has been outspoken in denouncing the indoctrination of children into any particular set of beliefs - religious, political or otherwise. He would certainly not assist any enterprise which intended to indoctrinate children in any way.
Teachings of atheism? It's a personal conviction, that's all there is; comming to the conclusion that there is no evidence of any gods. How do you teach that?
Do the Christians own the patent on summer camps?
As the atheists don't believe there is any gods, they also don't believe that nature is the property of andy god.
Neither Richard Dawkins or Stephen Hawking would have the time for something as inane as an atheist camp for kids, even if they DID want to do something like that. Which they most certainly don't. Because you know... they're not fundies. Who DO spend their time with indoctrination camps.
Both are scientists and have better stuff to do.
@Swedish Pagan
"As the atheists don't believe there is any gods, they also don't believe that nature is the property of andy god."
Is that a typo or a parody of the OPs typos?
Either way "andy god" made me snigger!

That is awesome!
I am reminded of that advert "give a man a fish he can feed his family for a day, give him the means of fishing he can feed them for life"
Give the kids a thought meh!.... give them the means to think - win!
"Gods garden, in Gods own backyard... wow, thats rude.
Whining about a summer camp based on an imaginary entity...wow, that's rude.
"an Atheist camp for kids... christian style. he's all over our stuff"
As opposed to... what? A fundy Christian camp run by one Becky Fisher, where kids already fundytarded by their parents were indoctrinated even more using extreme forms of brainwashing and what could only be described as psychological torture, as proved by the documentary film "Jesus Camp".
Frankly, what Prof Dawkins is doing is decent and honourable compared to what was demonstrated in said film.
Incidentally, that documentary featured Ted Faggard, prior to his fall from grace. And who was further destroyed by Mr. Dawkins on TV. Said camp by Becky Fisher no longer exists. Dawkins continues as a respected lecturer and author. Coincidence?
BTW, I can highly recommend watching "Jesus Camp". But steel yourself for the scenes of what I can only describe as mental child abuse by Becky Fisher. The "Saw" and "Hostel" films - even "Audition"*, at least have special effects, and thus can be dismissed as visual fiction. The unimaginable horror of "Jesus Camp" is all the more terrifying, because what's on the screen is REAL.
*- I watched that Japanese horror film. Once. Never again. My psyche could never take a second viewing! :0
Too many mistakes to count in this one but for a start, it was Professor Dawkins who made a small donation to a camp for kids whose parents are atheists. There will (hopefully) be no indoctrination or brain washing (unlike christian camps).
Christians are the living definition of rude (fundy ones anyway).
"He plans to let them enjoy gentle outdoor pursuits while pressing unto them the teachings and beliefs of Atheism"
What exactly are these "teachings and beliefs"? And please, for the love of your god, stop capitalizing "atheism" unless it's at the beginning of a sentence.
Christians don't have sole claim to summer camps, thank goodness. And some of the ones that are church sponsored don't go over heavily into indoctrination (thank goodness again--grace before meals is about as bad as the one I went to ever got).
But anyway, what's really rude is your mangling of my native language! Cut it out already!
"Gods garden, in Gods own backyard... wow, thats rude."
Don't worry, he won't be offended. He's busy NOT EXISTING.
Confused?
