Any historian knows there would be no Buddhists at all if there were no "judgemental" Christians who died so you could believe whatever nonsense you like.
It's sort of like saying a hippie is nicer to people than his father, a WW II soldier was. The hippie would be saluting der Furher and violently reeducating Buddhists but for his father's sacrifices.

Define 'historian.'
Siddhartha Gautama Buddha was born in 563 B.C. pre-dating Jesus by over 500 years, dumbass.
And it's arguable that if it weren't for Christianity, WW II would never have been allowed to happen in the first place.

I'd like to refrase that. There would still be Celtic and Norse god worshipping if it was not for the judgemental christians that died in an attempt to shove christianity and all the non sense you believe down your ancestors throats.
And I am serious when I say that I would prefer to have grand feasts in holy forests hailing Odin, Thor and Freya over sitting on a hard wooden bench in a church for 1 to 2 hours listening to a guy in a robe talking about how good their homicidal, genocidal and chronically ignorant all knowing god is.

Aren't hippies peaceful, accepting, stoned and lazy? How would they go about violently reeducating buddhists?
This is one of the more bizarre posts I've read here in days (and that's saying a lot!). It's just so incredibly free of sense, logic, or reality, like a surrealist haiku.

What is this history of "Christians who died so you could believe whatever nonsense you like?"
Tolerant, liberal Christians seem to be a relatively recent phenomenon. Much of Christian history involves Christians trying to exterminate any opposition.
As has already been said, Buddhism pre-dates Christianity. So, "any historian" with 3 brain cells to rub together would know that you are full of crap.
Does radorth still post on the Internet Infidels board, or was he finally chased off.
He's possibly the worst poster ever, smug and absolutely convinced of his inerrancy. To him, facts are stupid things. If you want your head to explode, keep reading him.
You know, I always find history revisionists to be amusing. This guy obviously feels that Americans were the heroes of WW2. The U.S. was weapons dealers, if I recall, for BOTH sides, and failing that I'm incorrect on that front, maintained neutrality. The only reason they stepped in was because Pearl Harbor got bombed.
No, I think what he's saying is an extension of the "Love your freedom, thank a vet" mentality. He's saying (I think) that if Christians hadn't died in wars to safeguard freedom, Buddhists wouldn't be allowed to practice their religion.
His opinion ignores an awful lot about history, "Christian" safeguards of freedom, and the fact that most Buddhists live outside the protection of the USA (and in fact live in pretty repressive places by Western standards-- i.e., they don't owe their religious practice to any freedoms they've been granted by the USA), but I think that's what he's getting at.
Confused?
