(On a story about a terminally ill woman suing California for the right to die with lethal medications rather than a long painful drawn-out death)
Interesting dilemma. Will she continue to ignore the Word of God on healing and only consider man-made medicine as her only option for healing or allow man-made medicine to kill her body more quickly. If the cancer is terminal and no reasonable medical treatment is going to cure her, then why go through the torture of extreme treatments which only promise a scant chance of success? Watching someone die over a longer period of time under such cancer treatments is extremely painful to undergo and to watch. Religious medicine has no Scriptural standing in denying her request.
It's unfortunate that healing isn't taught from the Word of God as it should be taught. Instead, people have been brainwashed into believing that God uses doctors and medicine to heal. The latter is a lie. God gave us healing through Faith in the Covenant wrought by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus (the) Christ. Faith in God's Word brings miraculous healing. However, the vast majority of those professing to be Christian put their trust in the natural actions of people through medicine and surgical procedures, rather than the Power of God.

Because medical care was so much better in the dark ages when we used god methods instead of science methods.

because, even if the bible did forbid real medicines, life as hypocrite is preferable to death by stupidity.
I see your point. A return to using leeches, maggots, dung and prayer really would benefit mankind.
Medieval medicine was so advanced.
So you'd prefer her to have a "long, painful, drawn out death" with Jesus, rather than either a long painful SURVIVAL or a painless death with assistance. The loving kindness of Christians never fails to underwhelm me.

That's because they have a modicum of sense.
"It's unfortunate that healing isn't taught from the Word of God..."
Yeah, it's a shame we don't learn how to heal people from a genocidal deity.
You know, I thought the guy with the JC initials (well, more JoN, but we'll keep it simple) taught lessons of reducing misery in the world. And that one of his apostles was a doctor.
Let the lady go on her own terms, as peacefully and painlessly as possible. If there is no hope for the case, then that's that. If a miracle is going to happen, then it'll happen. If not, then it won't. Given that you're talking about an omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent creator, it's not like they'll just miss her case if there isn't an extension on the time. Perhaps you should have a little faith, FoJC. Sounds like you doubt the creator.
Dr. Christiaan Barnard's first heart transplant into Louis Washansky.
Smallpox no longer existing in nature .
Certain forms of Cancer now treatable via Gene Therapy.
The first head transplant. "Ghost in the Shell" and "Self/less" looking less like Science Fiction, eh FuJCForever...?!
I'd think that since modern medicine works almost infinitely better than dark age medicine, that if I were religious I'd say we have justification that God heals through man-made medicine. Otherwise we're just like the guy in the joke about the flood, where the water's rising and he refuses everyone's rescue attempts, and when he gets to heaven he asks God why he didn't rescue him, and God yells at him how he tried and tried.
First paragraph starts out stupid but gives reasoning that is reasonable....
The OP realizes that, panics, then rectifies the situation with a second paragraph that's even more batzoid insane.
The idea that perhaps it's her appointed time to leave this Earth completely escapes this idiot....
....as well as the stories of numerous parents who did what this jerk suggests and their kids still croaked.
Healing does not work by prayer alone, bub....and, yes, Deity does work via doctors.
This is why I'm a Spiritual Pantheist. Prayer, like spell-work, is really just about subtly influencing the various forces that make up the universe. The Doctors are an aspect of God.
Also, what TimeToTurn said. Deity really doesn't like it when flood victims ignore the rescuers Deity sends.

How many people were saved from the Plague by crawling to the church on their knees and praying in the Middle Ages? Today we can cure it with $5 worth of streptomycin.
Jesus put his trust in the natural action of gravity rather than the power of God when he declined the devil's invitation to cast himself down from the pinnacle of the temple. You can't do something stupid (or do nothing) and expect God to save your bacon with miracles (cue the old joke about the minister who drowned in a flood waiting for God after refusing human help from two boats and a helicopter). The Bible says Jesus brought a guy back to life after he had been dead for four days and was already decomposing, but stuff like that doesn't happen in real life.
Almost forgot a side point: Expecting the Creator to solve your problems is expressly mentioned as a bad/dumb thing to do. In the Old Testament (something about not testing God), and quoted by Jesus.
In other words, stop begging for miracles when help is right in front of you.
1. If God cured all medical problems, I'd have two eyes.
2. America's euthanasia "debate" is stupid. Why the hell can't we just let them die on their terms?
Everybody dies; we're all terminally ill. The question in this case becomes whether the individual has a choice about dying comfortably now or after six months of pain and fruitless medical treatment.
If it makes you feel better, think of it as wanting to join Jesus sooner.
@ Azereaux: can you give the book & verse on that?
I've heard that said, about testing god but that contradicts what Jesus said about 'whatever you ask for, you'll receive' in regards to prayer - John 14:13.
When I queston why god hates amputees, xtians trot out this excuse as to why the prayer isn't answered.
@Wyzard: "can you give the book & verse on that?"
I think he's referring to Luke 4:9-12 and Matthew 4:5-7. I alluded to it in #1826944 about the devil daring Jesus to cast himself off the pinnacle of the temple to see if God would save him. Jesus declined and replied "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God."
"Instead, people have been brainwashed into believing that God uses doctors and medicine to heal. The latter is a lie."
Good, so when you're choking, we definitely won't do that Heimlich maneuver or call an ambulance, because that's doctors and medicine, and that's a lie.
We'll pray for you.
Good luck not choking to death.
While my post detailing why has been lost to the internet, suffice to say that people like this should be afflicted with a cocktail of horrific and fatal diseases and then denied any treatment except for divine intervention.
Also, FoJC_Forever? If we ever meet in person, I will break your spine. Just a friendly warning. People like you cause more harm than you could ever comprehend, and I want you to suffer for your actions.
Confused?
