I have often thought that myself. Many atheists--not all-- are very hostile and mean spirited in their replies and debates.
Well, when you being told repeatedly that you are such a horrid monster that you deserve eternal suffering and torture at the hands of satan in the pits of hell just because you don't believe the same thing as the acuser, you tend to get a little testy.
Such hostile behavior is not as common among Christians.
Wrong. Such behaviour is very common. It's called "thretening the unbeliever with Hell". It happens so often that you probably don't even understand that it's happening when you do it to us.
Is it something in their subconsciousness eating away at them that makes them behave that way.
Ah, the old "You don't really not believe in god, you are just rebelling, and deep down in your soul you know this to be true" argument. Go fuck yourself.
My experience with people that call themselves Athiest has been negative for the most part due to the frequent hard, hostile and hair trigger stance that they put on.
Did you mention hell while talking to them, or did you belittle their unbelief by calling it "rebellion" or "disobedience", or did you just call the evil to their faces, or did you compare them to Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, or Stalin? That would explain why they get a little miffed at you.
They are a lot more easily offended then the religious.
We do get tired of arguing agains the same old shit over and over and over and over again and again and again, etc.
I have even had friends that were 'atheist'.
1) Bullshit.
2) Why is 'atheist' in quotes? Where they not 'true'atheists, or do you just assume "rebellion" and "disobedience"?
I still had to be careful not to offend them.
You mean you had to avoid trying to convert them to christianity, or compare them to Hitler, or quote bible verses at them, or mention Hell? Such a burden you must bear.</sarcasm>
