if they took God out of the pledge it would be a huge disrespect to our founding fathers who were God fearing men

Not only did the founding fathers negelect to add the "under gawd" to the pledge, but they neglected to write the damn thing in the first place.
It was written one hundred years after the country was founded. By a socialist. And it had nothing to do with the United States in it's original form. It was a pledge of allegiance to a socialist group. Only later was it adopted (in a modified form (OMG! NOES! THEY MODIFIED THE PLEDGE!!1!)) for the United States, and then modified again (OH NOES!!) to add the "under gawd" part, to make us so much better than the Communists.
Sheesh. Do they even teach history anymore?
And if we didn't take it too, because they never put it in the first place(and by the way, Deism, agnosticism and freemansonric is not God-fearing Christianism)
The "under gawd" line was added in 1954 during the depths of the McCarthy-era in order to detect the commies secretly infiltrating our schools and governmental institutions. As every right-thinking fundy of the time knew, those atheist commies would not be able to say those two words and would invariably stumble over them when forced to recite the pledge. And that's when we could catch 'em!
Sort of like how the fundies of an earlier error(sic) thought that inability to recite the lord's prayer correctly was ultimate proof of one being a witch.
Really? 'Cause I always heard they were athiests, or atleast agnostic...
"God fearing"? I thought we were supposed to love God? How can we love one we fear?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
