I'm a recent alum of Stanford, so this case is particularly amusing to me. I think the 6-month sentence was too harsh.
Since when did fingering become rape?
As the post above indicates, this was clearly just a hypergamous slut wanting to cheat on her boyfriend with an "alpha male" star swimmer. Stanford is a fairly isolated campus. She was NOT a student...those girls only came to frat parties to fuck jocks and frat boys.
Then we have the 2 white knight male graduates students (likely virgins) who reported the incident. Grad students on this campus basically get no action, and are looked down upon by the undegrads as total nerds...these 2 guys were acting more from jealousy than a desire to help.
Finally, the victim's letter...classic attention whoring.
So many game lessons in these "20 minutes" of action.

The moment the victim either says 'no', or is incapable of explicitly saying 'yes'.

Since the victim couldn't give consent. Not to mention that even if it weren't illegal, it's still incredibly creepy for a guy to do that to a woman who's passed out.

He wasn't convicted of rape. He was convicted of three felonies including assault with intent to rape an intoxicated woman and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object.
A six month sentence comes out to 2 months per felony conviction.
In the meantime the two grad students you call nerds were themselves on the way to a frat party and managed to tackle and hold your "alpha male" star swimmer.

So your theory is that, by showing up at the party, she had automatically and irrevocably consented to penetration by any body part of any "alpha male" who was there?

This is predominately the blaming of women for everything so stressed in Christian faith and heavily pushed in Fundamentalism /RightWing Conservativism.
If you have some kind of sex with a person who says No, or can neither give consent or say No, then it is rape.
Even if she wanted to have sex with a particular guy, that does not give all other guys there permission to have sex with her. Women don't think in terms of alpha males, you silly bint ("bint" fits you even if you're male, binty). I'd guess "those girls" came to frat parties to, ya know, party with frat boys. Women (usually) have several steps between "yay, party" and "let's fuck".
The two guys who caught the rapist and reported the rape (not just an "incident") are Swedes. Sweden is sometimes called "the rape capital", BECAUSE WE TEND TO REPORT RAPE IN HIGHER RATES THAN OTHER COUNTRIES. I doubt that two handsome guys from Sweden have a problem getting laid if they want to, if not in the US, then in Sweden. Teenagers over here have access to free condoms and free birth-control pills, ya know.
