Do any Christians today still boycott the Beatles because John Lennon said they were more famous than Jesus?
Answer : a boycott wasn't necessary, remember he was shot by his own fan. I dare say he regrets that commit every moment of his existence now.

I Believe, I think it's a waste of time talking about John Lennon. His life is over and done with. I think our time would be better spent sharing the gospel with those who are still alive, rather than worrying about those who have already made their choices and gone on their way.
@MessianicServant:
You are a turd.
John Lennon was a genius. Therefore, he is well worth discussion. And he contributed greatly to humanity.
jezus was an unemployable loser, who spent his days hanging out with twelve other morons. (tell me that ain't ghey)
Well, Jesus sure as hell wasn't drawing the crowds that the Beatles were. Pretty factual statement, really.
And I thought that was always one of the big things about Christianitythat worldly things would always be more popular among worldy people.
Then what the hell are Slayer, Marilyn Manson, Danzig, not to mention tons of REALLY hardcore satanic metal bands who write lyrics that would have you peeing in your little christian panties, still doing walking around? John Lennon has to die for making a relatively tame comment (although it took god years to get around to it) but god lets these other folks live? Is your god retarded?
"I dare say he regrets that commit every moment of his existence now"
Implicit hellfire, eh? Tasteful.
I thought his fan shot him because he was insane, not because Lennon said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus. Besides which, the Beatles broke up a long time ago. It was probably 30 years ago. Get over it.
he was shot by his own fan
Chapman wasn't a fan. He was a fundamentalist Christian who hated Lennon and believed he was the sort of phony denounced by Holden Caulfield in "Catcher in the Rye", a book with which he was obsessed. He was a loony who would have been found insane if he hadn't refused to allow the insanity defense to be used and plead guilty. He's still nuts. He continues to be refused parole as a danger to society.
Yeah, that'd be a damn dandy theory except for one thing. Lennon wasn't shot because of his Jesus statement.
What's with all the Lennon quotes all the sudden?
The difference is that John Lennon was real, practised and preached love, peace and tolerance.
Whereas Christians preach love, peace and tolerance but have more blood on thier hands and caused more suffering and hatred, than any other mickey-mouse religion.
@ MessianicServant - what the fuck are you on?
Theres plenty of bands today that make far worse comments than him - and yet they havent been struck down by God yet.
What, has he grown a thick skin since then?
Looking at their impressive sales and the acceptance of apology from the Vatican, more than 30 years later, they don't give a danm. And by the way, who regrets it, Lennon, who is dead, or his fan?. I think that you haven't a clue of what you mean.
Bearing in mind that the Beatles are the group that has sold more records in history than any other, in nations predominantely Christians and that he was shot 12 years after saying that, I guess it makes no sense.
I think he's highly incapable of regretting anything, being as he's dead. You know - the end, finis, eternal nothing.
In any case, the Beatles probably were more famous than Jesus, and their music (even the crappiest songs) made for much better listening than any religious crap.
"I dare say he regrets that commit every moment of his existence now--because I certainly don't as I yank my puny penis to the mental image of naked John Lennon being ass-raped and burned for all eternity..."
And funny thing...

...any Christian who believes in eternal damnation is a moron, an imbecile, idiot, and brain-dead fuckwit. Go figure.
I suspect most Christians today avoid the Beatles because they wrote 'dirty' songs. Unless someone brings up Lennons remark most Christians have forgotten the incident, it's not like the Beatles ever saw Christian fanatics as part of their market like todays country stars do.
By the way it was America that went nuts over that statement, European Christians were pretty used to straight out dispariging comments about their faith
"I dare say he regrets"
He's dead, dumbfuck.
John is not dead.
Check out Julian Lennon.
Also fundie Christians will target any mass market products, the Dominionists really wants to take over the entire entertainment industry but since they can't produce decent products (Kirk Camerons Saving Christmas is horrible and amateurish by all accounts, par for their work) they demonize popular entertainment and in a lot of fundamentalist sectors BAN nearly all of it.
The Beatles and Johns remarks years ago was one of their 'wedges'. If they can besmirch the big stars they think they can destroy the entire industry or at the very least inspire a distrust in their flocks. A good 90% of tv and internet preachers seem to be attacking and fearmongering over secular entertainment.
The churchs think they used to inspire the love and spectacle and have been usurped by the entertainment industries, need bigger grander more overbuilt cathedrals I guess. Gotta up the Showmanship. Right Ham?
Confused?
