SwordOfGeddo, you are not alone w/ your being torn & perplexed w/ this issue; in fact, I personally think it's the most sinister & divisive deception b/c it's cloaked in love, acceptance, etc. & the immediate 'fruits' from it are not known until a considerable passage of time.
Quick example: I was on FB a few days ago, & discovered a woman I graduated HS w/ was now married to a woman a few years older than us & they had a little daughter! The family she came from was a well-liked family from a 'good' neighborhood & she was an 'All-American girl'; I NEVER would have expected this, yet, here she is, extolling Obama for 'supporting her 'family' ' & people I went to HS w/ gooing & ga-ga-ing over her beautiful 'wife' & 'precious' daughter. If the Lord stays His Hand & we're here another 5 to 10 years, the daughter will in all probability support, defend, & promote her mothers' 'marriage' & lifestyle & in all likelihood never get a chance to truly know Christ, etc.

How can it be such a big deal that your school-mate married a woman instead of a man? I had a colleague some 15 years ago, a year or so ago I found him on FB and saw that he was interested in men. "Oh, is he? OK." was my reaction.
Your classmate is still an all-American girl, or rather woman, now. She hasn't become French or Bulgarian, just because you found out she's gay.
The Lord has stayed his hand, despite the promise he made to his disciples that he would come back within their lifetime, for about 2000 years. I bet he'll stay his hand for another 2000 years, at least.

No Mary, she will get to know Christ. In fact she will know Him way better than you do. She will know to love her neighbor, and to not judge others. I don't what Christ you claim to know, but he sure isn't Jesus.

Hate to break it to you, but your little whooshfest isn't coming. You probably will have to not only put up with the daughter supporting, defending, and promoting her mothers marriage, but the grandchildren doing so as well.
And if you live long enough, and become the worlds oldest homophobe... the great grandchildren too.
@Swede : I don't know if you know this, but "all-American" doesn't have much to do with one's actual nationality, it's supposed to mean middle-class normal and slightly stereotypical teenager. That means she had a normal non-broken home, always had money but was never rich, always was able to keep up intellectually but not so smart she would scare anybody, not beautiful but also not ugly, etc. - in other words, a person so boring you'd forget her 2 seconds after you met her and so boring the Christian right would love for everybody to be like that.
After many, many seconds spent studying the Bible, I can reveal that it's all too probable that the Lord will be staying His Hand for several thousand generations to come. I feel this will be of great benefit to organizations like RR, as they will have many thousands of years in which to hone their death expectancy.

A child grows up in a loving, two-parent household, with the only noticeable difference from the traditional American family being that she has two mothers? The horror!

I have no idea why anyone would think this to be the case, but if true, it's another point in favour of same-sex marriages.
Do you expect all-American kids from good neighborhoods to become self-haters? Why else would you think she wouldn't wish to share the joy of her family and praise the politicians that brought their circumstances about? Why would they praise those who would persecute them?

"All-American" usually refers to somebody's qualities as a person rather than their nationality, which is already assumed to be American. I like UHM's description.
Given how hateful your god supposedly is, it's probably just as well that she never learns about it.
God to fundies is vengeful, evil and very, VERY vain, it seems. I mean, I have at least one friend who is Christian (I don't tend to ask, it doesn't do much aside from sate my curiosity), and he's fine with same-sex marriages and stuff.
I'd much rather go to hell than help your god satisfy his ego.
