I have this as an example: In the last couple of days a Pakistani girl was moved to one of my classes, and she sits next to me. As the closest peron, she tried witnessing to me. And it was useless to point out verses in the koran and the many contradictions that mohammed (police be upon him) made. She quickly countered that the koran in English is twisted and untrue and nothing from it can be used in debate. What's funny is that this girl doesn't speak Arabic.

maybe I'm reading this wrong, but if she only speaks english, that would not, in fact, make her Pakistani, would it? It would make her American.

It's nice to see a fundie get a dose of their own medicine, yet be completely blind to the fact that this is exactly how I view them. Moselm, Christian, Jew....a fundie is a fundie is a fundie.
This is indicative of the common problem that a lot of "Ahmeruhkuns," not just the Fundies, have: they tend to assume that all Muslims are Arabs, all Arabs are Muslims, and to a lesser degree that all Mulsims and Arabs are terrorists.
well "police be upon him" is a good joke. I had thought of "piss be upon him" but I dont want to get murdered. It is interesting however to note that some commentators here didn't get the point that she doesn't speak Arabic is a legitimate one, though it is true that all his objections are also true of the Bible and probably his lack of knowledge about it. Fwiw,I've heard that many English translations of the Koran may be inaccurate that they play down the bloodthirsty fascist sentiments in it.

My best friend has roots in Pakistan, and she has never, ever "witnessed" to me. I didn't even know that she was Muslim until after a few months, when I asked what the symbol on her necklace meant.
As far as I know, my friend does not speak Arabic, but she does speak Urdu and Katchi (I have no idea how that is spelled, I've done it phonetically).

The Quran is also translated in "Urdu", the Pakistani lingua franca, so perhaps the girl was comparing ZachS' English version (probably "courtesy" of some islamophobe website) with what she knew from her own language.
