If you are a history geek like me....the unfortunate thing is that it only goes out of style after it has destroyed the hosting city...or realm...or country.
Sometimes knowing history (in order to not repeat it) can be depressing.
Seriously, the only hope is for people who see this for what it is to stand up and say "I will not shut up, this is wrong". If we can't do that, well.....there is nothing new under the sun and history really truly does repeat itself.

Of course you're then asked to state specifically what is inherently wrong with it which leaves you with nowhere to go but "Gawd said so, yep, yep" which isn't quite good enough.

Ps. How does homosexuality dostroy a city, realm or country? If your answer is what I think it is, then you should hopefully be able to see what the real problem is.
If this person was truly a history buff, he'd know that homosexuality has existed since the dawn of human history, and that the only thing that has changed in recent years is that these people are gaining the courage to stop hiding from people.

Oooh, I can think of one! The medieval witch hunts which resulted in not just the deaths of many women accused of witchcraft, but just about any cat unfortunate enough to be caught indoors or out. Fewer cats, more rats, more plague-carrying fleas. So there! Oh darn, that doesn't seem to paint fundie-ism in a very good light...
History "geek"? Try being a history student; you might learn something. You would have to read books, though, and that might be too much bother.

If by "history" you're referring to the fall of the Greek and Roman empires and the fact that they were more permissive about homo/bisexuality than our puritanical country, you've once again failed to prove any causal link.
It wasn't the sexual proclivities of the Romans that caused their downfall; it was the fact that they tried to extend their sphere of influence FAR beyond sustainable reaches... kinda like another group of superior, self-important ideologues in the present day.
