[on the Folsom Street Fair]
Anyone who participates in these kinds of activities is just as bad as the pedophile who takes our children. They will have a black mark on their soul for infinity. I wonder why groups of people have not gone in and torn down there tents?

How wonderful for your children that you consider their abduction and rape to be on the same moral ground as the sexual activity of two consenting adults.
There's just no way you're going to fuck those kids up.
After all the Creationist quotes here on FSTDT, it's refreshing to see some good old-fashioned Homophobia for a change.
Oh, and your hatred of homosexuals is out of proporition to the actual impact they have on your life.
Oh no! Not fetishists!
Because everyone knows that what complete strangers do in their bedrooms for fun with consenting partners is totally ruining your life.
Property destruction for Jesus! I know you must defend at all costs missionary-style, joyless, sex that you make seem like a chore and feel guilty about anyway, but quit bringing the rest of America down with you.
I'm not sure what the Folsom Street Fair is, but judging by the other comments, I'm assuming it's some kind of gay event. To compare gay people with pedophile kidnappers indicates you've never felt the terror of having your child taken away from you. Have a little perspective, please.

People were dressing their toddlers in bondage wear. There were people openly masturbating in front of everyone. There were children there with their GLBT parents. There were also reports of open air orgies and oral sex. This isn't about gay bashing, this isn't homophobia. This is about disgust aimed at the cesspool of human wastes and the fact that some people will defend anything.
Professor M, I think he's actually mocking Mister Rudy's status as a republican? Otherwise I got nothin'.
Banned Chick... That articles screams [citation needed]. :|
"the pedophile who takes our children."
I first read this part as "the pedophile who takes care of our children". As in, this guys hires a pedophile as a babysitter. Now I can't stop laughing at the thought.
Well, obviously, just going in and tearing down the tents would do no good when it is a legally sanctioned event. They'd just prove their own intolerance by doing so.
For the record, while I'm not entirely in agreement with Banned Chick's views, I'll admit that I also have a problem with children (under, say, 16 or 18) being present at this event, especially if open-air masturbation is actually allowed there. That just seems inappropriate.
(Of course, this assumes that the article wasn't just making stuff up -- but I see no reason offhand to disbelieve at least the presence of the children there, without knowing of this publication having a penchant for fabrication.)

I have a problem with people performing sex acts in public, regardless of the presence of children.
It's one thing when you are talking about consenting adults in a private setting...but when you take it out into the streets, it becomes a public matter. There is, quite simply, no justification for this type of situation. The fact that children were present just makes it worse.
And as for all of you who will inevitably call me a "homophobe" or some similar slur, understand this: I don't have a problem with gay marriage or gay people in general. I do, however, have a problem with public indecency. Events like this do more to undermine the public image of GLBT people than all the bible-thumping fundamentalist preachers in the USA.
HOMOSEXUALITY! IS NOT! REMOTELY! ON! THE! SAME! LEVEL! AS! PEDOPHILIA! [/foaming at the mouth]
While I agree that Folsom Fair can be quite risque, if you don't like it, turn your sorry ass around. You do not, I repeat, NOT have the right to not be offended. Deal with it. Your life will become a lot easier. They are not forcing it down your throat, you are the one walking around, clicking your tongue in disapproval. Don't look! It's really that simple. We get to live in peace, and so do you.
Confused?
