This denomination arose due to people wanting something different than what the Holy Spirit teaches and provides. The first Apostles warned of these things coming, and they manifested as the Holy Spirit revealed. While the acceptance of homosexuality or being complacent about its existence is evil, there are many, many false doctrines practiced by organizations and individuals in the world today and have been for a very long time. The tares multiply at an alarming rate, while the wheat continues to grow unto God.

Out of all the Abrahamic faiths & Abrahamic scriptures, Christianity/The N.T. has got to be most peaceful, humane, sane, beautiful, noble, Progressive and Liberal of them all....but you wouldn't know it seeing the antics of the Church & ChristoFrums throughout the centuries.
And I say as a NeoPagan! As much as I loathe the Demiurge & general Abrahamic-ness, I actually make an exception to REAL Christianity (as taught by Jesus). I see it as both a reboot of Judaism AND a Heinz 57 combo Interfaith faith of Faiths. Plus, I feel the Gnostics were on to something....The Hebrew Testament Deity & The Nazarene Testament Deity are definitely two different beings.
The N.T. still has a few unpleasant quirks here and there but for the most part, it's pretty cool.
The only point in which you can enter Jesus into anti-gay policies is: He implied the old laws still stand; See Torah/ Old Testament.
Since not one fundamentalist church pays any attention on most of those laws the hypocrisy should be obvious to even yourselves.

Without the Church of England, you wouldn't have the Christianity you have today: you'd be venerating the Virgin Mary, saying Three Hail Marys, going to Confession, and obeying Papal Bulls.
A few years ago, some bishops & archbishops in the UK's House of Lords dropped their opposition to S-SM, and the legislation breezed through Parliament. Those clergy peers in the highest court in the land (PROTIP: Romans 13:1-5)? Church of England.
