[We're not looking for proof [of God], we're looking for evidence]
That has not been my experience. The vast majority of Atheists I have encountered are smug, self- righteous, and take The Lack of 'God' as self evident and consider those who think otherwise to be, at best, simply minded fools. They are really no better than the loathsome Judeo-Christlamic Father/God Cultists they profess to despise.
Therefor, I judge your above statement to be disingenuous, even if you make it honestly.

"That has not been my experience. The vast majority of Atheists I have encountered are smug,"Yeah, sometimes.
"self- righteous,"
Ok, yeah, sometimes.
"and take The Lack of 'God' as self evident"
Yes, even if I wouldn't have capitalized "The Lack."
"and consider those who think otherwise to be, at best, simply minded fools."
Well, no. Deluded, yes, but some of the deluded persons are no simple-minded. I think they are wrong, but not all of them are fools.
"They are really no better than the loathsome Judeo-Christlamic Father/God Cultists they profess to despise."
"Judeo-Christlamic?"
I don't despise people for their Christianity. Pity, maybe, but to be despised one needs to go further, such as becoming an ignorant yet pompous, evangelical dinkwad.
"Therefor, I judge your above statement to be disingenuous, even if you make it honestly."
One cannot be both "disingenuous" and "honest" at the same time, as to be disingenuous requires the knowledge that one is purveying a falsehood.

Well, maybe some atheists, as some Christian or moslems, are self-righteous. However it´s not the lack of visible God which leads them to their unbelieving. It´s the abuse of the name of God that some Christian do, not accompanied with a real spirituality or a real reasoning for the good works involved. Atheism, in my view, isn´t in rise. What is in rise is the rejection of an organised religion which doesn´t follow Christ any longer.

Perhaps nebris has been fundie for so long he thinks you can be disingenuous and honest at the same time. Kind of like how Gawd loves humanity so much he killed his own son to rescue us from the eternal torture he created in the first place because two people ate a piece of fruit that Gawd said would kill them, only he lied about that.

Smug? You bet. I'm proud to not espouse ridiculous, antiquated, moronic Bronze Age beliefs. I have a need for evidence-based decisions everywhere else in my life, so why should my personal beliefs (or anyone's for that matter) be any different? I respect the right of people to hold beliefs, but nothing says I have to respect the beliefs they hold. This includes (and especially so) religion.

Yes indeedy! I was just on there yesterday looking for god names that sounded like radio-station call letters and, as usual, start reading for an hour. There are some freaky gods and myths that have come out of human imagination.

The smug have a new anonimous playground in which to express their lack of "Light". Making up sockpuppets, posing in the worst light possible, and fulfilling prophecy that in the last days many will redicule and say "where is your God".
If there were a being that the old testament professes is God, I wouldn't believe it. Those tales are mainly borrowed from older tales. There is evidence that the God Jehovah was an entity that was prevuiously named Enlil. Not the true God at all, and more of a jealous creep.
We as humans have yet to sprout out from the darkness of the soil, to where we can even begin to understand the concpets we either cling to emotionally or redicule.
You that have rebelled against blind religious concepts have to bear in mind that the deceit that led to those beliefs is no less in your own reactions to it.
Laugh and redicule while you can chaps. As long as this planet is happy to have you, feel free to be whatever your inner condition understands. Don't blame God if the planet is not willing to support the hearts desire of the blind.

Well, yeah. The Biblical accounts of God are self-contradicting, the popular Christian concept of God is inconsistent with the world that we live in. You either have to be a simple minded fool or adept at mental gymnastics to not realize that.
