What about his performance has been terrible? It's a bit early to judge anything in regards to economy, and I think he's handled foreign relations and the war well enough. What exactly has he done egregiously wrong enough to make us not approve of what he is doing? Maybe if we can see clearly that the Stimulus failed at some point, than disapproval may be warranted. But, until that point, Obama's Presidency is still young and he has committed nothing close to the number of significant errors that Bush had (granted, however, that he required a year or two to pull them off). Bugger off.

It can be exciting to see a fresh face in politics. Obama appears to be so important that my history book for modern history actually mentions him at the start of the chapter on the American Civil Rights movement as another recent step forward in the movement.

look. it's simple. he's nothing to important, but the guy has a lot going for him. I mean, out of the shit that has become the USA this guy suddenly takes center stage and begins speaking of the impossible. and he's black. sweet, a first there too. and then he does it.

The only people I have seen calling Obama "Savior" or "The Messiah" are fundies. And the people who voted for Obama are by majority secular people.
