[On the ancient Greek gods]
I think they had to be at least based on something that was seen by people at some point. I'm a historian, too, with degrees in history. I'm just convinced that satan used similar tricks with all ancient civilizations. Look at the fact that the moon was used as a god for so long--and now the Muslims worship the same god as the ancients did. That is no coincidence.

Yes, like lightning, fire, storms. You get the idea. Much like your religion does. Except the greeks had more variety with their fantasy beings.
"... and now the Muslims worship the same god as the ancients did."
Some historian you are. If you care to take a peek at your religion's own history you'll note that you're now worshiping the same deity as the 'ancients' of your religion once did. How this is relevant to anything I don't know.

Proof that you can lead a fundie to education, but you can't make him/her think.

Actually, Muslims worship a God that hates Christians and has no son. So monoGod, yes, BibleGod, no.
Jesus is a prophet of Allah, second only to Muhamid in the general "hierarchy". In fact, Mary is the only named woman in the Koran, and the aformentioned quote above sorta shows that Christians are atleast "bearable."
And stuff.
You need to back to a real school honey. Jeebus is largely just a composite of Greek, Egyptian, and Zoroastrian god-men.
In fact, there isn't anything 'novel' about the Jeebus story.
Religion evolved. It started with the animistic and shamanistic religions, like what you find in the Native American religions, indigenous African religions, Shinto, etc. Then it moved on to pagan religions, like the western pagan religions of the Romans, Greeks, Norse, Egyptians, and Celts. Hinduism was an eastern form of paganism, although there are some differences. Then we move onto monotheistic religions, such as christianity, islam, judaism, Seikism, Bahai, etc. Then we have more atheistic/agnostic religions, such as Buddhism. Then we end up with things like deism, pantheism, etc. It evolved over time. Christianity is just one step on the religious evolutionary scale. It means nothing what you think muslims might worship (the whole 'moon god' theory is fraught with errors). People believed in the divine, and experienced that divinity in different ways, based mainly on time period and culture.
PhD in Ancient History (and a few other subjects from ACCREDITTED universities)
How much did you pay for your postal degree.
More to the point is your dergee Farenheit or Celsius?
You talk total bullshit, as RR usually does.
Allah is EXACTLY the same de facto god as yours and the hebrews.
The moon was used to mark the months - 13 per year, but to the fucking christians they decided to make it 12.
EASTER is calculated on the JEWISH calendar - some years have 12 months and others have 13 months on a 9/17 basis.
The Islamic calendar is based on 12 MOONS, thus thier year is shorter.
The moon is NOT thier god, but thier calendar.
I suggest you ask your "professor" for a refund.
As for Jesus as a "composite of Greek, Egyptian, and Zoroastrian god-men":
Just a quibble, but I've never seen convincing similarities between any Egyptian deity and Jesus. Horus is often mentioned, but there really isn't any but the vaguest similarities (no more than between Horus and other mythical figures that couldn't possibly have a common history, such as some Native American thunder heroes and sun figures).
More importantly, unlike other dying-and-rising figures, Jesus wasn't ever associated with crop fertility, and seasonal and sun associations came later (as part of adapting to pagan Rome), well after the early Christian writings.

Which mummy typed out on her computer using Word, with some nice clip art, to make it look all eye-catching and official, then printed them out and awarded such to her special little 'hoemskuled' graduate.
Meanwhile, all the Professors of History and Theology in the world are laughing their tits off at you.

PROTIP: You may be 'preaching to the converted' over there on Ruptured Retards rancherswife, but not everyone out there on the interwebs is a 'believer' like you. Short of RR becoming a private channel in IRC, I'm afraid there's very little you can do to prevent people reading what you say - even on a forum - which then becomes Public Domain . And said interwebs' Fair Use policy means we on FSTDT can unfairly call you out on your bullshit and lies - and then rip the ever-lovin' piss out of your claims & fundie BS as a whole.
The only degree I suspect you have in history is the measurable temperature from the last secular book you used to start the fire-pit. And if you're a historian, what the hell are you doing on Rapture Ready? One reason why, and it's historical:
Millerites.
Go get an actual education from a secular college. Theological history degrees != education. Christian schools are a money spinner for someone who fell below the dishonesty threshold required to be a pastor, not a center of intellectual growth.
I'm not a historian, I've only studied History in pre-university school, about 10 or 11 years. I'm convinced that Religion used similar tricks with all ancient and current civilizations. Loot at the fact that you worship the same god as the Muslims do.
I'd never characterize myself by what my husband does for a living; I have a profession of my own. Don't you work on the ranch yourself, wife? Aren't you a rancher too, then?
This, I've painfully learned, is what passes for academic credentials in their world.
"I'm a historian, too"
That's it, in the Rapture Ready world, that person, if their commited to fundamentalism, are as qualified as anyone in the world now in history. More qualified as God is adding to their massive historical reserves of truthism!
So Rancherswife, who read a bit of David Bartons last book, is a fully qualified historian now and is never to be qustioned on her claims unless it's by that credential which apparently encompasses EVERY DICIPLINE EVER IN ACADEMIA,,The THEOLOGIST!
Confused?
