There are things that are best just not talked about, much less openly celebrated.
Such as being a fundie. But don't worry, I support your freedom to do so anyway.
Queerness is one such thing. It is not normal and everyone knows it, but political correctness forces us all to pretend it's fundamentally no different from normal sexuality.
It's functionally different, I'll give you that, but it's still normal and happens in many different species. It's actually a pretty nifty little safety valve to prevent the population from growing out of control and using up all resources.
It is different
Agreed.
and to deny that in official policy is to deny reality, which has its worst consequences in military settings.
And this is where your argument falls apart as just because people are different doesn't mean they should be treated differently.
It encourages falsification and lying, which seriously undermine morale.
Wait, REPEALING DADT encourages lying? What fucking bizarro world are you living on?
Most seriously of all, it tells the normal soldier that what makes him uncomfortable doesn't matter.
It doesn't. You think sitting out in the desert for hours is comfortable for a soldier? Or running for miles per day is comfortable? The military is not about comfort but about getting the job done. And given the hardships they face, a homosexual is the least of their worries and is, in fact, rather irrelevant.
IOW: HE doesn't matter. Queers comprise about 2% of the population, and they're more important than the 98%. Talk about favoritism, and it sets up a divisive dynamic.
Oh cut the persecuted majority crap. Nobody buys it and it just makes you look like a big fat baby.
Normal men are equipped biologically to feel revulsion toward queers.
I don't. Then again I'm comfortable in my sexuality (heterosexual, for those that want to know).
Fighting against biology has you fighting against yourself, and that's the last thing you want or need in combat.
Oh, right, because running for miles carrying a giant bag of supplies in the desert is SOOOOOOOO natural for humans.
Some queers aren't a problem. They're the ones who lived with DADT. The problems will be those who want to push things. And they will.
No they won't. For the most part things will continue as usual except now they won't be kicked out for admitting that they're gay.
