therefore food sacrificed and killed in a prescribed manner and blessed in the "false god's" name would be considered as such...

Halal = Kosher, basically.
So, in other words, if you eat anything other than pork, shellfish, insects, etc., you're eating something that is Halal.
I'm in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich.
@JohnTheAtheist, They won't have genitals, so they'll probably lack their sphincters as well.
Gee whiz...don't ever visit a real Jewish deli... and Halal meats are the finest in terms of their raising and humane slaughter. Have you heard of a recall lately from Halal? [crickets] Even Kosher plants have had a few problems recently.
This is a jew talking to you, here. Halal is quite fine--particularly the lamb.
Halal food is awesome, and somewhat healthier than basic American food. I'm a Buddhist gone mostly Halal, mostly because there's an awesome grocery store run by a Muslim behind my house. Anything there is better than Walmart.
I often eat halal meat because there is nowhere in town to get kosher meat. Religion aside, kosher or halal just tastes better.
And what is this "blessed in the "false god's" name" shit?
YHWH, Allah, and Jehovah are the same deity.

Does she mean the "false god", Yahweh, the Old Testament God of Abraham, the one the Muslims worship?
Her loss--halal (and kosher) meat is usually cleaner than other kinds.
I wonder if she runs screaming away from hummus and tabbouleh, too?
Now I'm all hungry for a hummus and tabbouleh wrap.
I find it odd that on a board that advocates animal rights people claim that halal tastes better (how the hell can it?) Unless you're all from somewhere the non-halal industry is unregulated to the point of being worse than halal.
Halal requires the animal to be bled to death whilst concious (halal butchers round here take pride in their meat being unstunned). It also bans the consumption of certain offal (waste of perfectly good meat), and I dare say that the adrelenine caused by having your throat slit will cause all manner of effects on the collagen in the meat, making it tough.
If it wasn't for religion, the halal slaughter process would've been banned here a long time ago.
@Arcturus:
It was only one person who said that Halal meat is 'cleaner', and I doubt most people know about the specifics behind the Halal method of slaughtering animals. In fact, up until I read what you just posted, I always thought the only rule behind slaughtering livestock in Islam was that it must be killed in the named of Allah, and no other God.
Confused?
