[A protestor opposed to showing "An Inconveneient Truth" in elementary school.]
"No, you will not teach or show that propagandist Al Gore video to my child, blaming our nation -- the greatest nation ever to exist on this planet -- for global warming," Hardiman wrote in an e-mail to the Federal Way School Board.
The 43-year-old computer consultant is an evangelical Christian who said he believes that a warming planet is "one of the signs" of Jesus Christ's imminent return for Judgment Day.

Not fundie, he just has grandeur delusion. The greatest nation on earth was Rome, IDIOT!!!. And just curiosity, if Jesus doesn´t come soon, what will your answer be for global warming?. Remember that you can believe whatever you like, but so do the rest of the people.
In an interview on television, he said that he does believe in global warming, but that it's because the world is "under a curse from God" as predicted in the Book of Revelations.
He is a classic fundie nutcase.
This is the part of that article that pisses me off the most...
"In the end, though, the board opted for balance. That means that "An Inconvenient Truth" may be shown only with the written permission of a principal and only when it is balanced by alternative views that are approved by both a principal and the superintendent of schools."
There are no "alternate views" other than "It ain't true," and "Jesus is coming back." The first one can't be given "equal time" because it takes aproximately 2 seconds to say it. The second can't be given "equal time" because it is religious in nature and therefore not permitted to be taught in a public school! Therefore they have effectively banned the film without actually officially "banning" it. This makes me sick, every single thing in that film is scientificly verified. The film doesn't "blame" the USA, it blames irresponsible industrial practives the world over: The USA, Europe, Russia, Chia, we all bear the blame.

How could anybody with half a brain look at this as 'opposition' to religion?
I agree with you Sandman, what mess of political bullshit.
Teacher 1: Here's a movie that shows facts and gives a forecast of how much we are going to screw up the world if we continue as we...
Teacher 2: YOU HATE JESUS!
What The mother-Fuck?
I guess reality IS religions kryptonite.
warming planet is "one of the signs" of Jesus Christ's imminent return for Judgment Day.
People have been saying this or that is a sign of Christ's imminent return almost since the day he died. Is God so silly as to send far-fetched and ambiguous "hints" to us about the coming of Doom? If he wants us to know Judgment Day is coming, why doesn't he just appear in the sky and announce it? If he doesn't want us to know, then why send any hints at all, especially vague and obscure things like warming the oceans a few degrees over a century? And why send a hint that only scientists can detect? Wouldn't it make more sense to send the hint to evangelicals? Plus, is he so powerless that we can override his will by limiting greenhouse gasses?
I can understand fanatics misunderstanding science, but they never even think their own theology through.
Christ's return has been imminent for a long, long time now. I'd say you guys have been stood up. But even if you do believe he's coming, don't you think it would be a good idea to try to take care of the planet until then? You know, just in case he decides to screw around for another 2,000 years?
Hey retard!
What the hell are your kids doing in school anyway? Shouldn't all of you be dressed in hair shirts, living in a cave somewhere, and making amends for your sins, in preparation for the Lawd's return?
Leave the rest of us sane individuals to deal with reality, and go live your fantasy elsewhere.
"Greatest nation ever to exist on the planet?" Bullshit. But hey, I'm not here to get involved in misplaced patriotism.
The simple fact is that Global Warming does not take national borders into account. Which is why people like Al Gore are trying to get everyone involved in combating the problem.
Confused?
