I have no doubt that atheists and die-hard believers of "everything non-God" have a sense of enlightenment and "illumination" since they, unlike us christians, 'are correct in not believing in God'.
oddly enough, "Lucifer" has been named "Bringer of light, The morning star, Intellectualism, Enlightenment."
just thought it was weird and creepy that they're >>>>>PROBABLY<<<<< working for something widely considered evil without even knowing it...
...brings to mind a mother who thinks she's hugging her little baby lovingly, while she'd actually smothering it....TO DEATH!
be afraid...

God: Don't you dare eat from that tree of knowledge.
Lucifer: Bringer-of-light.
God: kills millions in the Bible.
Lucifer: kills ten people in the Bible.
God: Sets up a decent guy to get executed, then claims it was all for the best.
If these two dieties were actual, neither would be worth praise, but if I had to choose one to call "good"...
Lots of things mean 'bringer of light'. Are we really followers of Ho-Chi-Minh without knowing it? His name neant 'Bringer of light', too?
And 'the morning star'? Are we worshippers of Japan now (land of the Rising Sun)? Are we worshippers of the close combat weapon known as the Morning star?
Grasping at straws, deluxe edition.
be afraid... I am. As a matter of fact, your post just made me rather terrified.
"I have no doubt that atheists and die-hard believers of "everything non-God" have a sense of enlightenment and "illumination" since they, unlike us christians, 'are correct in not believing in God'."
I almost agree with that, except for the part about believing in "EVERYTHING non-god."
"oddly enough, "Lucifer" has been named "Bringer of light, The morning star, Intellectualism, Enlightenment."
The single reference to "Lucifer" in the Bible does not refer to Satan.
"just thought it was weird and creepy that they're >>>>>PROBABLY<<<<< working for something widely considered evil without even knowing it..."
Just because you say something is widely considered evil, does not mean that something IS widely considered evil. Also, even if something is widely considered evil, that doesn't mean it IS evil. After all, one doesn't eat shit just because 6 trillion flies consider it delicious.
"...brings to mind a mother who thinks she's hugging her little baby lovingly, while she'd actually smothering it....TO DEATH!"
No, it makes me think you're an asshat.
"be afraid..."
Why, are you going to do something scary?
Nah, Lucifer is the bringer of light because he used his will to mold the stars, galaxies, and structures of the universe into existence from the power of the Demiurge. (Vertigo reference)
I can only imagine if fundies ran the school systems of America...
Fundie teacher: Now remember, students, you should never use your brain. You should never strive to be intelligent, because Lucifer will get you for it!
And the Enlightenment was probably one of the best things to happen to humanity. It's one of the major reasons people have government-protected rights today. We need another one in modern times, if you ask me, to help synthesize all of the new technologies we haven't come to terms with yet.
It's quite the catch-22, isn't it reg? You are scared of what you don't know, and apparently that is quite a lot. But instead of facing what scares you and NOT living in fear, you decide to shun knowledge and blanket yourself in paranoid superstitions.
And "oddly enough", jesus is also referred to as 'The Morning Star' on the last page of The Revelation of St. John. How's that for weird and creepy?
What about the tree of knowledge? Since knowledge is evil and forbidden, isn't all science evil too? Let's move back to caves and cure diseases by prayer alone. And the Bible also encourages you to be childlike and gullible and suggests everybody who questions and doesn't just blindly believe is a "fool".
Oh, and then Bible is being interpreted to predict that at some point many people will stop believing in it. It's a neat trick as every time it does happen, the remaining believers can use it as a weapon to convince themselves and others they are right.
By the way, Lucifer, commonly known as Venus, is only linked to Satan in the believers' minds, not really in the Bible:

I could mention the same battle between the children of light and those of the shadows, but, what the hell!!, if people don´t understand metaphore and pick and choose...........
I like the quote from Galileo "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.".
If a god exists, I'd like to think he wouldn't be an asshole like the Christian god and would approve of intelligence, education, and thoughtfulness.
Confused?
