A state of nothingness has never been proven NOR is it a scientific claim. A different state is NOT nothingness.
And if there was a possible state of an empty universe containing nothing (That's right, an everything of nothing) how and why in the fuck would a all powerful entity be there?
Another thing this guy is missing is that there's more than one definition of "faith". What beard-guy is talking about at first is "strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof." What he meant the second time is believing in someone or something (in this case, scientists) based on EVIDENCE in the past. He has faith in science because it has provided answers before.
BUT I should know by now, that's just an old fundie trick, messing with meanings of words....
"If there is no creator, how do you account for the universe coming into existence, from nothing?"
It's *creationists* who talk about anything 'coming into existence from nothing', Adam! Not scientists.
Your guys seem to have heads too big for their bodies, Addie, they seem at the risk of toppling over...
How did the creator come into existence from nothing?
laws of science
The guy making these comics is such a moron. I wonder when he'll run out of straw.
Also, the sciences require no faith. We can demonstrate that the scientific process provides results, we have evidence that it works.
"We don't know how matter came into existence."
And neither do you. This is the whole point. An unknown is an unknown. There is no justification for making up fairy tale solutions.

It's easier to win an argument when you argue both sides of it.
Confused?
