There are so many people coming here from other countries, illegally, who carry diseases and we never know it because they get in under the radar. Also, diseases mutate and turn into different strains. What strain a vaccine works for may not work for newer strains that are now spreading.

A) If kids were vaccinated against these diseases, then other people coming into the country carying the diseases wouldn't cause a large outbreak. So your argument fails.

Cause your kids won't have immunity, and if your neighbors don't vaccinate either, there won't be the herd immunity and it will make no difference whatsoever who patient zero is. The disease will spread.

If kids aren't vaccinated, diseases have more habitat to live in. If diseases have more area, they have a larger population. Larger populations mean more mutations (mutations are an evolutionary concept, by the way) and a bigger chance of an outbreak occurring.

More people had measles infections in the first seven months of this year than during any comparable period since 1996. There were 131 reported cases of measles. 16 were in children too young to be vaccinated. Most of the rest were either unvaccinated or their vaccination status was unknown. 63 were known to be unvaccinated because of their parents' religious or medical beliefs.
Actually, I work in a library where we get a lot of immigrants and their kids coming in. They do seem to be sicklier than the American kids, and therefore more likely to be spreading diseases. Last year, I had scarlet fever and my GP thought I got it from them. She volunteers at a clinic and sees that shit all the time.
Yeah, it's obvious that clean white people could never pass along diseases, even without vaccinations. Only dirty, urine-colored foreigners bring diseases into our country.

Ignoring the blatant racism in this, would this not be a good reason FOR vaccinations?!
Perhaps they don't want to admit the connection because this is occurring more with home schooled children than those in the public school system. Before these vaccines, kids were dying all over the place from things like mumps and polio. Do we really need to go through that again? Do children have to needlessly suffer because of the rampant paranoia of these uneducated parents? We're lucky to live in a country that has those prevention measures for children.
Those of us who are immunosuppressed, would like to request that you quit messing with herd immunity.
if you don't know what that is (and you probably don't) I reccomend you just vaccinate. it will be easier on everyone that trying to explain it.
And when your kids get sick, and give measles to your neighbors' baby, who was going to ge vaccinated when old enough? How will you explain it to your neighbors when your crackpot ideas killed their baby through your kids? Immigrants, to my understanding have only brought an increase in a few diseases that were nearly unknown but aren't vaccinated for like tuberculosis. An "outbreak" would be a few cases rather than tens of thousands like a century ago.

I don't know if its the same in the states but when my husband immigrated from England they made sure he had all his shots before letting him into the country. Once he was in, they tested him for every known virus on the planet! So, if the states is anything like Canada, your dirty immigrant theory don't hold water. (Although, in fairness, I'd wager that those who do slip through the cracks are probably unvaccinated and more likely to be ill)

Sounds like the episode of House where Dr. House scares the crap out of a mother because she refused to vaccinate and her baby got sick. (The baby was okay, it was just a cold. He sure had her going though.)

Such as the flu virus. That is why they strongly encourage you to get the vaccine every year.
This quote isn't really fundie or racist. There are communicable diseases that are prevalent in other countries that had been eradicated here in America that have recently started popping up over the past decade or so. One of those diseases is Tuberculosis. It is known that more people traveling abroad and the surge in immigration could be partially to blame for diseases such as TB and Smallpox re-entering America. Stating the obvious isn't akin to racism. Just because some countries don't have the medical technology to treat and prevent such dangerous diseases doesn't mean acknowledgment of this fact is racist.
There are reasons, other than religious, to not have your children vaccinated against measles. The potential link to Autism, for example.
