Lisababy's quote isn't fundamentalist. That's a genuine realization, something good and something we should promote.
His Always is ignorant, but not exactly fundamentalist.
DH1991, however, is. Every thing's infected with sin?
Show them the colossal beauty of the cosmos, and how vanishingly small our species and all its works are in comparison, and they'll still try to shoehorn it into a bunch of crude fairy stories as if we hairless apes were still the most important thing in all of it. A strange combination, when you think about it - pathetically small minded yet simultaneously as arrogant as hell.
Lisababy is learning about the world for the first time, hey, don't complain if she isn't resisting the knowledge. She ACCEPTS that the people presenting her with scientific facts aren't evil lying nazi angel-hybrid popes trying to deceive her.
His Always seems pretty much a "baked alaska". The space hippies thought heaven was physically located on a planet, and look at what happened to them!
I would say DH1991 is fundie, the universe being infected with sin is a good indication. Those people believe simply EXISTING is a sin, so you really can't win.
"Wow....that is awesome. I wonder if heaven is on one of those planets?" --His Always
The Mormons believe that every Latter-Day Saint will get his own planet when he dies.
Careful there, His Always, if your Rapture Ready buddies heard you spouting Mormon-like ideas such as this one, they'd condemn you to Hell in a heartbeat!
First one simply shows how poor our general science education is in this country.
The second is fantastical nonsense.
The third is fundalicious.
> The Mormons believe that every Latter-Day
> Saint will get his own planet when he dies.
I'm praying I don't get Jupiter.
Hot, dense, catastrophic gravity and no firm surface.
That would be just my luck!
Bah, I have the same reaction as Lisababy everytime I see a scaled representation of it. I mean, it's one thing to know that the Sun is way larger than the Earth, but it always stuns me to see just how much.
Universe big. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's not small. No, no, no.
This comment reads like an example of different intensities of fundies.
At one end of the scale you've got "slightly-dopey-but-harmless" Lisa Baby.
In the middle you've got "Dumbass-who-can't-pull-his-mind-away-from-religion" HisAlways.
Then at the far end you've got "Batshit-insane-all-is-sin-and-everyone-deserves-the-flames-of-Hell" DH1991.
And in the interest of honesty i'll also admit that I too react like Lisababy when I see things like the link in the OP, that illustrates the vastness of the universe. I'm also easily distracted by shiny objects. :(
Yeah, I actually feel a bit like Lisababy sometimes. It's one thing to KNOW how dinky we are compared to everything else, but it's hard to conceptualize. So when I'm faced with such an effective comparison, it's hard not to pull a Keanu Reeves "Whoa!"
The others are just retarded.
It's a great big universe
And we're all really puny
We're just tiny little specks
About the size of Mickey Rooney.
It's big and black and inky
And we are small and dinky
It's a big universe and we're not.

If you want to know just how small we really are, check this link:

I recommend it. It blew me away the first time I saw it, and I've known about planets and sizes and things of that nature for over 20 years (I'm 25). I think it would make some heads explode over at RR.
seriously guys...I went to public schools in Kentucky, USA and I just cannot fathom this level of stupidity. To think I was under the impression everyone over the age of 10 knew we were 93 million miles away from the sun, and seeing as it's quite visible it must be quite huge.
Just, remember that you standing on a planet that’s evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
It’s orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it’s reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm at forty thousand miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the Milky Way
Our galaxy itself, contains a hundred billion stars
It’s a hundred thousand light years side-to-side
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick
But out by us it just three thousand light years wide
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions in this amazing and
expanding universe
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whiz
As fast as it can go, the speed of light you know
Twelve million miles a minute and that’s the fastest speed there is
So remember when you’re feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space
Cause there’s bugger-all down here on Earth

Wait till you find out how old the sun is.
I think a group of fundies should be a fumble, not a gaggle.
Not to stir anything up.. while the quotes may not be all that fundie.. certainly those who have uttered them are. And the name of this site is FUNDIES Say the Darndest Things. So.. this quote is still keeping in line with the spirit of that, I believe.
It is nice to have something from the fundies, every once in a while that you can just read and go.. "awww, aren't they cute?" Instead of always having their quotes scare the hell out of you, make your blood boil or cause you to fall to the floor laughing at their stupidity.
His Always and DH1991 have sort of spectacular, though in the case of HA not really very reprehensible, quotes.
Lisababy's quote just isn't fundie. I'm guessing this contempt for her words by blayz is justified by the rest of the thread but if that's the case, why not just use that quote?
Compare the size of the Earth to the Sun. Then compare the Sun to Betelgeuse. Then Betelgeuse to the Milky Way. Then the Milky Way to the local cluster.
Now explain to me how we are God's special creations? It'd be like creating the whole world and everyone in it for the benefit of the gut bacteria of a single flea!

Away from Fundies, yupp, that's heaven !
"I doubt it all of the universe is infected with sin,It's cool to think about though." --DH1991
God created a sin infested universe!
Do you think we may have touched somebody's brain (Lisababy?) Is she questioning anything? or gone straight back to her ranting?
I followed the thread to see what was happening, it's blind, these people really think that the entire universe is made just for lil' ol' us....
Its disgusting, it really is, how further comments in that forum seem to assume that all that is 'just for us' to conquer during 'eternity'. Its completely disgusting how they are completely lacking in humility.
What I meant was that the "heaven on other planets" thing wasn't very fundie-ish. I actually misread DH1991's comment, and I thought that it said "I doubt that all of the universe is infected with sin, it's cool to think about though." Thus, DH1991 seemed okay to me, despite being batshit.
@ Sago, actually because of the pressure etc. of the gas content, Jupiter and all other gas planets most likely have solid cores. So, there is a surface... You'd just be crushed before you'd get there by a sea of ammonia etc.
"I doubt it all of the universe is infected with sin,It's cool to think about though." --DH1991
It's for damn sure the whole place isn't infested with christians.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
