We in the UK already have that - and no app required: it's called Crimestoppers.

And our police have a Zero Tolerance policy against Hate Crimes of any kind. That, and Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

Can't you think of the happy things, Rapturites? (Well, happy things by your standards?) Do you have to always think of how any new things make your own life even more miserable? Have you no imagination for good things at all?

I think this post just proves what the fundie priorities are. It's fairly clear that persecution complex is far higher in their minds than homophobia. Probably because they feel they're are persecuted due to homophobia and other things.

Although the wording DOES look like someone's attempt at making light of jingoism, along with some of the scrolling dates (founded on 7/4/10, this application launched on 9/11/10...No way these are accidents). Still, that's not much evidence for a feint. (I suppose some of you won't be surprised to hear they're based in Florida) Their other products are a data-miner for reconstructing crisis events, and a pair of applications meant to dynamically instruct you on what to do in an emergency (one for schools, one for hospitals). Considering this is a private company, you get the feeling they're more than a little worry-driven.

Edit: Come to think of it, I think they mean variance whenever crises occur; they're thinking in terms of interdicting panic and its ilk, by making it easier to know what to do (exhibits A and B being the hospital and school emergency procedure guidance applications). Still potentially worrisome, but the anti-panic reasoning is still something to consider as possible.

I have a friend who was studying to be a cop in Ohio, and decided at the last minute that law enforcement was not what he wanted to be doing . . . I asked him his take on this. He said something along the lines of people filming police doing shit that was kinda stupid but completely normal (not brutality, just normal human reactions to assholes, is my understanding of what he was talking about) and then blowing it way out of proportion. I wasn't really convinced. And I don't think he was, either, but he was trying to defend his institution.

What underground groups would those be, exactly? Christians have the majority in the US and they don't exactly have reason to hide. Sure, some of them quit their churches because of disagreements with doctrine or church rules and go on to form their own 'home churches', but that's hardly a forced underground movement.

Everywhere I go (especially at xmas), I see church groups performing, handing out fliers to potential converts and basically talking up the lord with anyone who will listen.

If I were to imagine camps in any foreseeable future, they'd be filled with GLBT people, not christians. Thou art truly paranoid.
