The stupid... It... Burns...
<<ok, now die>>
Ok, but seriously now, no.
- Religion offers a liberty, freedom from evil and its damnation. Evolution offers a liberty, freedom from "GOD" and the "holiness" "HE" requires.
Evolution has nothing to do with the existence or non-existence of God. Yes, it defies literal interpretation of the bible, but that's just your (err, I presume) version of the Judeo-Christian God. Ever heard of evolutionary creationism?
As such, it doesn't offer "freedom" from him. Alone, the theory disregards God entirely, never mentioning (not to mention offering freedom from) him.
- Religion assumes the ultimate wisdom, and that all opposition lack wisdom. Evolution assumes the ultimate knowledge, and that all opposition contends knowledge.
Evolution doesn't assume ultimate knowledge. It is a theory which right now seems damn convincing, but empirical evidence is by definition never absolute. If a better theory comes along, I'll bite.
No, and no matter how many times it is repeated, creationism isn't more convincing (or actually scientific), and irreducible complexity is an argument from lack of imagination.
- Religion offers enlightenment. Claiming all opposition is in ignorance and/or denial. Evolution offers enlightenment. Claiming all opposition is in ignorance and/or denial.
Evolution doesn't offer enlightenment. At most, reaching the theory is the result of enlightenment. And, as said earlier, it doesn't claim "all opposition is in ignorance and/or denial".
