I really don't understand how lately, in the 20th and 21st centuries, governments have become more and more tolerant of homosexuality, lesbianism (not to be confused with the Greek island of Lesbos of course), adultery, and now this; transgender surgery!

Umm...Why would you think someone would confuse the term "lesbianism" with "Lesbos," the island. If you said; "and more tolerant of homosexuality, lesbos..." then that would make sense. Otherwise you're being stupid as you were being stupid when you separately listed homosexuality and lesbianism. I get you're a fundie and being stupid comes with the territory, but really, must you prove how much of an idiot you are in every imaginable way possible?
Um, maybe because as people become more enlightened, they realize that they have no reason to concern themselves with other peoples' sex lives?
It's really not a difficult concept, but I wouldn't expect a fundie to understand.

I know that this isn't going to get through your skull, but the best "treatment" for the issues for all of those things (except adultery) is to give the homosexuals and transgenders the right to live as they feel right! God does not fix the problem, nor do medicines or therapies.

I don't understand it either. You religious nuts spend centuries turning the planet into a disease-ridden den of paranoia, superstition, bigotry and destruction... and here come people looking to untangle the mess! The nerve of it! I can't imagine what their problem is. It's as if living in fear and ignorance wasn't enough for them!

You know, these fundies would be worshipping tolerance as their new god if they weren't in a country where their religious opinions are shared by the majority. But, as it is now, they can have their persecution complex, and persecute too...and it just sickens me...
Thanks for clarifying that governments haven't felt a need to be more tolerant of the citizens of a Greek island. I totally didn't know what you meant there, and that would have been a wacky misunderstanding.
Yeah, those crazy government types and their being tolerant to a group of people that will potentially vote for them; what's up with that? If people didn't want this tolerance to weasel its way into society, then why did they vote tolerant people into office? Didn't think of that, huh?

How the hell would you confuse lesbians with a fucking island? I will give you kudos for actually knowing the root of the word "lesbian" however.
So even if a female becomes a male (or vise versa) and then in turn has sex with a female, it would still be a terrible sin? Meet in the middle there bud. At least they're not gay anymore! *thumbs up*

Isn't saying "homosexuality, lesbianism" a double-up, like saying, "canines and dogs"? (No offense meant! Just the example that came to mind.) Doesn't the term "homosexual" mean "one attracted to one's own sex"?
I think there's a couple of issues here
1. California
This fundie actually uses the word "tolerance" as ebil. Wow. Normally they throw around phrases like "they're getting special rights," or "our right to not tolerate is not being tolerated," whatever. But it's rare to see a fundie be so honest to use the word "tolerance" to describe what they're fighting against...
What a tragedy to society! People becoming tolerant and accepting; we can't have any of that and still worship such a hate filled, vengeful god now, can we?
I'll take the acceptance and tolerance, thank you. You can keep your god and choke on him.

Looking at this in a fucked-up way, I would have thought fundies would love transgenders, because if they choose to have a relationship with the opposite sex, they won't be ghey anymore! But there's just no pleasing some people.

It's not just "lately." In Ancient Greece, homosexuality was widely tolerated as well.
To those thinking that the connection between Lesbos and lesbian is weak; the inhabitants of Lesbos actually call themselves Lesbians. They are generally what we refer to as the boring kind of Lesbian :) Though, on the other hand, all Greeks I know are very nice people, so I would suspect that typical Lesbians are many, many times better than rabid fundies. As are lesbians, of course.
