Neanderthals are (probably) cousins of ours, not ancestors. There are lots of differences between us.

Neandertals are humans in that they are of the genus Homo and are more closely related to you than you like to think. The Neandertal genome has been decoded, and a head has been reconstructed. It is larger and huskier than the average modern human, but otherwise, if one were to come back, you wouldn't think anything of him. Take a look. Kinda looks like J.C.image
And what do you think caused them to have larger bones than us? Could it be differences in their genes? Yet, you claim that the only difference is that they had larger bones.

I really wish I could remember this BBC documentary show on Neanderthals. It stuck with me to this day. The show was going through a subway car and panning to different people as it went through, the narrative was something like ",,,But, they're all gone now, the Homo-Sapiens won out, somehow, by chance, by skill, by overwhelming numbers, we are all that is left" ending on a heavy browed and jawed guy that most of us have seen in our lives.
At this time one of the reasons for their extinction was thought to be they were assimilated into our numbers and those traits mostly disappeared over generations. This show was at least a decade ago and they've since found theres a pair of chromozones difference that makes them a different species of human.
Still remember those days when TLC and the History Network brought us things like Nova and wonderfully well done British documentaries of scientific discovery. Now it mythical bullshit from unaccredited Americans and "reality" shows that contain very little reality.
