This was on the local news this morning.

The link is to an article about a lesbian couple who will likely marry in Illinois this week. One is suffering from terminal breast cancer and they were able to obtain a court ruling allowing them to marry well before the date of June 1st when the new law goes into affect. I felt incredible sadness watching this on the news. This poor woman thinks she is receiving a great gift and a right, but instead she is sinking deeper into sin, and in a few months, will inherit the whirlwind. . How hard it is to show people the light when the political leaders who pass the laws are lovers of the darkness.

I concur; unless your're a self-righteous sadist (which many conservative Christians seem to be; if this site is anything to go by), it must be somewhat disheartening to go through life convinced that the majority of people in the world, including most likely at least a few close friends and family, are doomed to eternal damnation.
Of course the correct thing to do is deny the dying woman any happiness, joy or love for whatever remains of her life. We should instead strive to treat both her and her partner as criminals and shun them, except to endlessly browbeat and harangue them for the decisions they've made on how to conduct their private lives.
Fuck you, clownshoe.

So instead she should die miserable with her dream unfulfilled because of some Bronze Age mythology?
If your god punishes people for loving one another, your god is a dick.
As someone who's childhood friend got screwed out of her late partner's estate, essentially having to start her life completely over, I applaud this decision. You Rapture Retards can go fuck yourselves (or each other, seeing as you all badly need to get laid anyway), this is a great victory, not only for gays, but for the families and friends that love and support them.

It seems to me that it is the political leaders who have seen the light. This post suggests that it is you who loves the darkness.
What "light" is shown by harassing people who are terminally ill? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?
Kudos to the judge who enabled them to marry.
she is sinking deeper into sin
Who are you to judge?
Versimilitude, Rapture Ready
Oh right. Rapture Ready idiots get a free pass to dish out judgment.
"How hard it is to show people the light when the political leaders who pass the laws are lovers of the darkness."
But there are signs of dawning light for example Illinois is allowing same sex marraige in spite of the best efforts of the forces of darkness.
Come on, what evil have they done? I know you fundies think gays have orgies, are trying to convert our children, and want to end Christmas or whatever, but this is a couple that wants a little bit of happiness before one of them dies from a terminal illness. There's no possible "gay agenda" for them to accomplish. Surely even the most vengeful and jealous of gods would grant an exception to a couple with a terminal illness. Surely they've suffered enough for whatever "sins" they have.

There's nothing about lesbian sex in the bible. Be a literal Christian already: lesbianism: ok; homosexuality between men: beeh!
Here, try this, mind your own business and get your nose out of other people's lives. Trust me, you'll feel better.
"a lesbian couple who will likely marry in Illinois this week."
I bet that really pisses you off! [/Clarence Boddicker] >:D
Matthew 7:1, bitch. See you in Hell .
...oh yeah, that's right: you'll be going there and I won't be. Because, despite being an Atheist, I'm not a judgemental - and therefore hypocritical - subhuman like you and all the rest of the inferior slime on Ruptured Retards, Verisimilitude.
verisimilitude [ver-uh-si-mil-i-tood, -tyood]
noun
1. the appearance or semblance of truth; likelihood; probability: [The play lacked verisimilitude.]
2. something, as an assertion, having merely the appearance of truth.
Username seems legit.

Oh, what a world we live in. People are able to find the smallest degree of happiness, instead of none at all. Jesus didn't intend it to be this way you know. He had glorious plans of humanity suffering in absolute misery, and filth, in his holy name, and then the liberals came along and fucked all that up with their iron chariots, empathy, and shit. Or at least that was what he would have had in mind had he actually ever existed anyway.
Well no shocker, here. That is a good story. And, see, fundies would like same sex couples to be denied basic rights and would prefer they die miserable and alone. Because they're such bighearted humanitarians. They're on the side of the lord, after all!
"Allowing them to marry well before the date of June 1st when the new law goes into affect".
EFFECT, YOU ILLITERATE BASTARD! EFFECT!

Oh, I dunno. I'm guessing that, if you did a good job of saving money, you could easily book a flight to Norway and visit Hell. Me, I'll settle for the one in Michigan. In fact, I'm tempted to ask to be buried there after I die, and have my gravestone read something like "Huh. I guess the Christians were right about where I'd be spending forever." *snarky grin*
Oh, BTW, Boddicker's actor's wife made a cameo in Robocop as Dick Jones' secretary. ("You can keep the gum, hon.")
@Da Rat Bastid
'Hell '
"the one in Michigan"
Detroit. Where "RoboCop" is set. Also, that scene at the petrol station, Murphy/RoboCop deals with Emil holding up such; the shootout, resulting in the place blowing up. The 'S' on said petrol station's illuminated sign in 'Shell' failing in the conflagration, RoboCop emerging from the flames.

'I'll buy that for a dollar! Nya-ha-ha-ha!' [/Bixby Snyder] X3
so a God who is presented as a loving father will not like the fact that two of his children want to commit to each other in love , even though one of them is terminally ill. ?
shame on you. maybe your God is a self indulgent monomaniacal dick ?
Without being legally married, her partner wouldn't even have the right to be with her in her last days on her death bed, much less be able to make medical decisions for her as she lies in her morphine-induced stupor. If they live in a rent-stablilized apartment, she might even be kicked out of their home after her partner passes. Has Versimilitude ever watched someone die of cancer?
Your lack of common humanity is startling. That woman's life in the hereafter (assuming there is one) is really none of your business. It is a matter between her and God (assuming there is one). In fact you are being both blasphemous and judgemental - both mega sins according to your Holy Book. Blasphemous and judgemental in that you are pre-empting God's right to judge and/or show mercy. Oh, and also a tad hypocritical too. Woe to the hypocrite!
Any more stones you want to cast?
You're a cowardly puke. You DO have morals but you're too frightened by your nazi cult to act on them. Like peering through the curtains of your living room window, watching police take your neighbors away, wringing your hands, and repeating these rationalizations to yourself till you almost believe them.
Oh yes, she'll inherit a whirlwind...one that will take her soul up the Yellow Brick Stairway to The Merry Old Land of Godde!
You, unless you quit being an insensitive bigot towards a dying woman, your fate will be a Horse Of A Different Color. Just give it up, accept LOVE and AdiShakti/Supreme Deity with help you click your heals three times, saying, THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME....
You wouldn't want those monkeys to grab ya, would you?
I usually don't believe religion is a cause of evil in the world, but more an excuse. But here is a person who seems genuinely compassionate being an absolute a**hole, because of what they have been told to believe and are trying to believe. So sometimes it is the cause of evil. Or maybe they're secretly happy about this woman supposedly going to hell, but that's really not how I read it.
Confused?
