Fox News host Steve Doocy asked Penny Nance, CEO of the Christian activist group Concerned Women for America, if she could make any sense out of why Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx would proclaim May 2 as both a “Day of Prayer” and a “Day of Reason.”

“He comes from North Carolina, which has the 7th highest church attendance, clearly he’s not running for re-election since he’s up for transportation secretary,” she opined. “You know, G. K. Chesterton said that the Doctrine of Original Sin is the only one which we have 3,000 years of empirical evidence to back up. Clearly, we need faith as a component and it’s just silly for us to say otherwise.”

“You know, the Age of Enlightenment and Reason gave way to moral relativism. And moral relativism is what led us all the way down the dark path to the Holocaust— Dark periods of history is what we arrive at when we leave God out of the equation.”

Translated from fundie: "he comes a fundies-infested state so he's probably infected too, or at least he's used to pandering to fundies, and since he isn't trying to get reelected he thinks he can get away with disobeying the Establishment Clause." Mighty brave of him....

And is the dumb bitch really claiming that freaking faith is a component of reason!?

I'm not sure what I said in my post that referred to Jesus, so perhaps you might have the courtesy to explain what it was that made you ask such a question.

I'm not a Muslim; I took the name because I live in Kosovo where Hasan Prishtina is an important historical figure.

Taqiyya - it's a word in Arabic, so there's more than one transliteration, but there's still no place for the 'u' after the 'q' - is a largely Shi'a practice and there aren't many Shi'as in these parts. Furthermore, Shi'as may only use taqiyya when be threatened, under persecution or compulsion. Accusations that Muslims practise taqiyya daily for whatever reason they like are a direct descendent of the antisemitic canard that Kol Nidrei permitted all Jews to lie and cheat in business dealings and carry no more truth to them.

The 'q' in Arabic is still not a guttural and adding letters that don't belong still isn't justified.

You are right, as I pointed out some time ago, that there is more than one way of transliterating things in Arabic. So let's take a word with 'q' in it, such as - I'm sorry to have to spell these out, but FSTDT does not support the Arabic alphabet - qof, dal with shaddah, 'alif, fa', ya' or Qaddafi. You can spell that Gaddafi, Gaddhafi, Gaddaffy or Kadafi, but not Quadafi. In the same way, Qur'an/Koran/Coran, you will notice that the word is spelt qof, ra', 'alif with hamza, nun, the 'u' or 'o' being a monophthonic link between the 'q' and the 'r.'

The second syllable in your rendering 'taquiyya' is a diphthong, alternatively 'takwiya.' Either version when transliterated back into Arabic becomes ta', qof, waw, ya', ta' marbutah. The additional 'u' or 'waw' changes the meaning to reinforcement, rather the opposite of what you intended.

P-G, as so often with you, the life lesson here is: don't dig deeper with silly comments that show nothing but your ignorance.
