[This is generally what we call being overzealous.]
QUESTION: At what age should the parent begin teaching the Bible to the child?
ANSWER: I taught the Bible to each of our children as soon as he was home from the hospital. Every night I would tell a Bible story. I would act it out. I would take stories like "Jonah and the Whale," "David and Goliath," "Daniel in the Lion's Den," etc. and tell the entire story using such things as pantomime, monologue, etc. I did this practically every night at bedtime from the time the children were a week old.
QUESTION: At what age should the child be taught the plan of salvation?
ANSWER: I taught our children the plan of salvation regularly from the time they came home from the hospital. Now I do not know when such truths begin to register in the mind of a child. Since I do not know when, I want to be sure I am telling the child the truth of God and the way to Heaven when that time does arrive.

I saw a bumper sticker recently that is more than appropriate for this guy:
The family that prays together ... is brainwashing the children.
I just want to know where I can get one of those bumper stickers.
Can't this be construed as child abuse? I hope her kids are the independent, "kiss my ass, I'm going anyway", type.
From the people that brought you creation science comes the new and exciting field of biblical cognitive development. Here is an excerpt from Dr. Jack Hyles:
"Sensorimotor period (years 02):
During this stage the child will learn that the only path to Heaven is through our lord Jesus Christ."
[ and tell the entire story using such things as pantomime, monologue, etc. I did this practically every night at bedtime from the time the children were a week old. ]
Did you tell the parts where Jonah died crying in agony, when King David had a man killed so he can sleep with his wife, or how the King from "Daniel and the Lions Den" not only threw his advisors in the lions den, but their wives and children as well?
Hey, might as well tell the whole story.
Dr Jack Hyles. Doctor of what? Nothing credible or useful for the rest of humanity I bet.
Addle their minds when they are young, screw then up good and proper so they can spend the rest of their lives in joyless fear of sinning and going to hell.
Ok, I did a little research on this guy:
1.) He died in 2001, so arguing with him is a moot point.
2.) He was the typical evangelical preacher, who feared, children would be destroyed by humanism, evolution and sex ed. (His statements in the 70's)
3.) He was dead set against cursing, he even censored "damm" in his sermons.
4.) Seems like an advocate of "tough love" towards children. (Ex: Discipline is good and children love it.)
5.) You should give your child to adoption (via the church!) if you're an unmarried mother. The child needs a father.
6.) He seems to have had an affair with the married woman of one of his deacons. He payed her for the time of the affair (over 10 years). Always in cash.
7.) He was accused of having more such affairs.
8.) His son David was accused of physical abuse of a child, which led to the child's death. The son refused testimony under the 5th amendment. (to lazy to search for the case files, sorry). The Case was never closed, because the child was embalmend and burried before someboddy asked questions... And there are more nice storries about David.
9.) He was accused of protecting one or more child molesters serving in his ministry.
10.) He seemed to have run his church like a cult and was compared to Jim Jones.
So, a really nice man full of christian values and great teaching concepts. Now I gonna need a bath, because I feel dirty.
Sources: Wikipedia entry (the sources), the linked page with his online sermons and books, the jack hyles story by robert sumner. (Robert Sumner is an selfdescribed fundamentalist who felt that he had to uncover the scandals of Jack Hyles; interestingly enough, he waited after hyles was dead...) and a conservative babylon entry on the son.
you sick, brainwashing fuck. this is the most vile, reprehensible and inexcusable thing a person can do. the mind of a child is a very fragile thing, obviously, since it is still developing. so, when you introduce garbage like this early on in a child's development, you are basically retarding the brain's natural growth process. basically, it's child abuse.
The Catholic Church has nothing on this guy!
9.) He was accused of protecting one or more child molesters serving in his ministry.
Well he didn't see any problem with rearing infants, so we shouldn't be surprised...
I'd read my children the bible before they go to bed, it's on par with other fairy tales. Not saying I don't believe in God, just that the bible, even though the greatest book in history is probably the most inaccurate.
"Since I do not know when, I want to be sure I am telling the child the truth of God and the way to Heaven when that time does arrive."
Yes you must make sure you're teaching that little baby the right things. You don't want the baby to be one of the ones God's SS (Whoops I meant loving angels) throws into the fiery pits to burn for eternity.
GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD FOR HE IS GOOD!
