Think of poor families and arranged marriages There are obvious benefits to child marriages. For example child marriages create financial stability which in turn means that the family will have their needs met, not to mention that the child who is getting married will have all her needs provided for. Morality itself needs to be questioned...We can all agree that killing someone is wrong and immoral, but in times of war killing is not only morally acceptable but is also encouraged. SO MORALITY ALL DEPENDS ON SITUATIONS, by the child marrying she is basically saving her family.
I hoped this added some insight on the topic. There are no right or wrong answers...Sadly. All I can say is arranged marriages are needed in some cases and can save many lives.

... You do realize dowries are paid by the *wife's* family, don't you? A mutually beneficial arranged marriage only ever existed in society's upper echelons and the couple themselves weren't really the benefactors.

I mean the whole idea of selling kids into marriages is sick to begin with and the sickness compounds with the typical difference in age but your attempts to paint it as a positive have the positions reversed. What's more if the arrangement ever goes sour it is traditionally the wife - the underage girl you think should be a hot commodity on the market - who is further victimised. In a situation where the so-called husband is paying off a family for a child bride it's invariably not ever in the child's best interest. Such situations tend to be the simple indulgence of a powerful man's sexual predilections with an indentured harem of slaves and most often a deal on the wrong side of the law.

Every single thing you think of as a positive is entirely dependant on that child shutting their mouth and not having their own opinion for the rest of their lives because if they ever anger or bore the man they've been "married" to getting thrown out on her ear with no education, property, or life skills as she's been raised specifically to suit one man's need and nothing else is the most optimistic outcome. Wives are overwhelmingly the targets of resentment and violence on all levels when their marriages fall apart. You have heard of "honor" killings, I assume? The cultures that practice marriages of that type have entirely different systems of value and different concepts of obligation so the personal gain (itself badly misunderstood and represented even worse) you believe exists in the arrangement is not a factor to them at all. But when you try to translate that into Western values you run across the evils of slavery and restricting personal freedoms, to say nothing of sexism and the perversion of family.

So you're talking out your ass on every side of the issue: Your premise is nothing but wrong and the right answer is to demolish it.

No, there are some benefits to arranged marriages. There are no benefits to child marriages.

How is a marriage between a grown man and a child more financially stable than a marriage between a grown man and a grown woman? Children seldom contribute to the family income.

A child's needs include an education, bodily autonomy, and having a childhood.

War is not a moral thing, at all. Killing civilians in wars is a war crime.

No, this hasn't added some insight, it has just promoted the horrid idea that girls are property, commodities to be bought and sold, not human beings with rights of their own.

Again, arranged marriages between adult people of about the same age can be beneficial, if both parties know what they are getting into, and both work towards a productive and equal union.
