What it comes down to it Satan wants to destroy us any way he can. If it is through population control that is just fine by him. I have often wondered how the government in the years to come will treat quiverful families. There is so much hatred for them right now by the people, it makes you wonder if those people who are so against population growth will start to push for caps on the amount of children we can have in America. I know we have an above average family, but we still only have 4. There are much larger families out there than us!

I'm not sure about population capping since I don't want the government to have the power to say whether or not someone can have children. A better way would be to abolish tax rebates for families.
Of course, then everyone would complain about not being able to afford having children, but who cares? I want a Ferrari for the weekend and a Prius for the weekdays but I can't afford either of those things. Why should I expect the government to help me?
Let's stop subsidizing these human baby factories and let them pay for their own goddamn children.
Since the US birth rate is still below replacement levels for population, it's a non-issue. (So is Europe, China and Russia - in fact in Russia the population is imploding so quickly they want to pay people to have babies.)
FWIW all the quiverfull families - I'm not talking about people who just have a bunch of kids but people who live by a quiverfull philosophy - I've ever known or known about support themselves and their children without government help. It's part of the philosophy not to be under government "help." <shrug>
Eugenicists would love to control procreation rights but it's certainly unconstitutional. I guess some think the right to choose only includes the right to choose an abortion. How stupid.
Whenever I hear that name, "Quiverfull", all I can think of is these idiots firing babies with bows.
On a more serious note, deliberately attempting to simply outbreed your enemy strikes me as evidence of a disturbing disregard for the value of life, treating the lives of children as a means to a personal end at the expense of reducing the quality of life you may be able to provide to each one.
There are some racists who are trying to outbreed, but for most, that's far from the purpose of the Quiverfull movement. I can see the humor in the name, but it's what some of them call themselves so I just go with it.
If you can adequately feed and shelter your kids, and offer them a good home, then I don't care how many you have. But if you're having a bunch of kids just because of some weird drive, thinking it makes you better than everyone else, then I question the quality of life you're offering to them.
Just a thought. If Satan wants to destroy us, why is he in favour of birth control?, less slaves to care about, less souls to win to his cause.
There is so much hatred for them right now by the people, it makes you wonder if those people who are so against population growth will start to push for caps on the amount of children we can have in America. I thought that you people wanted family issues to be decided by majority rule. Oh, I remember now: You want majority rule when you can count on the majority to agree with you.
We don't have the resources to breed out of control anymore. There are too many people.
Indeed, anti-nonsense. The biblical instruction to just breed as much as you can makes a lot of sense in the context of the high mortality rates and the abundance of work in pre-industrial ancient society. Kids died young and easily, and not only was having a great many the only way to ensure your line would continue, it was also the only way to increase your odds of survival into old age; with no welfare state or pension schemes, not to mention a shortage of cheap food and other consumables as we have today, lots of working descendants supporting you was the only way to survive once you couldn't work for yourself (which was often earlier than it would be today, what with the term "back-breaking labour" having a very literal meaning back then).
Nowadays, things have changed. Not only is it no longer strictly necessary to have lots of kids to support you in your old age, but it can be damaging to the children if you have too many. The world is more complex, so to survive in it they must be educated and supported by only their parents resources for longer before they can be self sufficient, and that education gets more and more expensive - many cannot afford it for more than a few, putting their children at a disadvantage in terms of learning.
Mechanisation and other industrial improvements in efficiency are rapidly approaching the point, if it is not already passed, when there is quite simply not enough work to go around, and yet we live in a society which has always been structured in such a way that everyone is still expected to work, and the unemployed are viewed with disdain.
Coupled with the difficulties in obtaining education mentioned above, the excessively simplistic "just be fruitful" mentality can surely lead to only one thing under these circumstances: an increasingly small group of the well educated from small, well managed families getting all the top jobs, and an ever increasing group of the unemployed or (for want of a better phrase) barely employed, for reasons of insufficient education or just the ever decreasing pool of more efficient jobs.
The simple fact is that the religious commandment of unlimited reproduction is incompatible with modern, capitalist, mechanised society. Either that religion must be modifed or abandoned altogether, or modern society must be. For the atheist or a follower of a religion not condoning rampant propagation, there is no problem; the commandment not only has no verifiable authority, but it makes no sense in the present circumstances, so it can and should be disregarded. For the "quiverfulls" and their like, however, it surely presents an insurmountable problem, for they cannot bring themselves to abandon their dogma, but neither can they they revert society to that archaic state that would make their philosophy anything but self harming.
There is so much hatred for them right now by the people
Damn, first you're persecuted for being Christian, then you're persecuted for having four children. Call the waaaaahmbulance.
I notice they complain about being persecuted, but they are the ones doing most of the complaining.
I'm not advocating a family size cap, but I do think that families should only have as many children as they can afford and will actually care for (beyond using them as marks on the breeding scoreboard).
