Your not reading the truth correctly. Our moral laws and statues all reflect old testament laws. And it's good thing because they just and fair.

Bill Maher just tried Old Testament laws on a religious leader, he told Bill that was unfair to bring up such things.
This guy up there? You bring up a few and watch the excuses begin.
ORLY?
Where?
Stoning people, alone would break the 8th Amendment.
MAN! I'M STILL WAITING FOR THAT INTERDIMENSIONAL PORTAL TO BIZARROWORLD TO CLOSE UP! WHERE'S SUPERMAN WHEN YOU NEED HIM?
I get the impression that many frummers think the country started circa 1620 as opposed to circa 1776 & that The Founding Fathers were guys named Miles Standish or whatever.
.....and that the guys in 18th Century Philadelphia were conflated with the guys in 17th Century Plymouth, Jamestown, Salem, etc.
No other way to explain it other than "Liar Liar Pants On Fire".
Last I checked, stoning for adultery had fallen out of favour in the US.
As for being fair, slavery has nothing to do with fairness: it is a disgusting remnant of an immoral age. So much for your bible, which actually condones it.
Ever eaten shellfish? Worn mixed fabrics? Shaved your beard? Worked on the Sabbath? Talked back to your parents? Were you a virgin on your wedding night? I don't see the death penalty for those in our "moral laws and statutes". Are you seriously claiming death for those is "good", "just", and "fair"?
Ok, so answer the questions, and remember you'll go to hell if you lie...
Do you really think these laws are "just and fair?"
Ex. 35:2 "Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death."
Ex. 21:7-10 "If a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant ... If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed ... If he take him another wife; her food, her raiment, and her duty of marriage, shall he not diminish."
Deut 22:28-29 "If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days."
And, moreover, last time I checked, "pagans" and heretics weren't stoned in the public square.
Our laws are a reflection of the English common law, which developed from Germanic, Anglo-Saxon foundations. Not Roman, not Judaic.

Old Testament laws? You mean the ones about stoning disobedient children, rapists marrying their victims, slavery of the indebted, genocide against people who practice a different religion. Oh, don't forget all the reasons they would execute people, like not being circumcised, working on Sunday, being a victim of rape...
... Oh, sorry. Ibuki didn't mean to ramble. All she's saying is that doesn't sound too good to her.
You have laws about which gods you're allowed to worship, how to honor the Sabbath, adultery and not coveting your neighbors' stuff, in your country? Where do you live?
Where's the "just and fair" about stoning people for eating shellfish or wearing clothes of mixed fibers?
Have you actually read the Old Testament laws? They differ just slightly from Sharia Laws, ya know.

So when people say we need to get back to the religious roots of this country, they mean we need to go viking and start looting monasteries? Sounds good to me.
Anyone got a longship we can use?
Not a fundie.
Wrong by many aspects, but the West has been mostly xian for 15 centuries - and this did have an impact upon our view of what morality is. Yes, even for atheists.
Believer, yes, mistaken, yes(as other mentioned, there are so many other sources of morality), but not fundie. He does not want my death in name of its god, after all.
Two things;
1. It's YOU'RE! Not YOUR but the contraction of YOU and ARE you fool!
2. Have you ever read the entire new testament? I mean really read it? You're not just picking a few bits you like and ignoring all of the rape and murder and torture?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
