Of course, the secular progressives do not believe that there are such things as good and evil. That is why they tend towards evil.

"Of course, the secular progressives do not believe that there are such things as good and evil."
I've got a wake-up call for you.
They do, however, believe that there is a right and wrong, or at least some palatable option, in any given situation, and tend to choose based on the available information.
Your ability to choose is severely hampered by reliance on invisible authority.
"the secular progressives do not believe that there are such things as good and evil."
Please show credible evidence supporting this assertion.
"That is why they tend towards evil."
You're going to need to prove that one, too, jacka**
No, it's religious people who don't believe that there are such things as good and evil. Otherwise, how do they explain a loving and omnipotent God who allows earthquakes and babies born with trisomy 13*?
*if you don't know what this is, don't Google it and look at the pictures - you really don't want to see them.
Secular progressives?
What a stupid buzzword.
There was a little girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good she was very, very good,
And when she was bad she was horrid.
This isn't pertinent, but I've always liked it.
I am impressed that these people can make "progressive" seem like an insult.
Well done.
Now, please learn how to tie your own shoelaces.
I am suddenly drawn to the competence-confidence dichotomy.
To alleviate those old familiar spasms of cognitive dissonance, I choose to invoke the mood of Opposite Day.
I have compared public religiosity to public masturbation, and can perhaps tighten the analogy somewhat with the observation that religious visions, hallucinations, and epileptic seizures each involve the amygdalae. The priesthood over the ages learned how to manipulate the effects of these nuclei, and the fringe groups have apparently learned to "do" themselves without drugs. I'm not reeeeally sure I'd want to treat myself that way.
Wup, just reminded meself. Lexapro time!
Does forehead really rhyme with horrid?
I don't know. I believe in good and evil. I believe the majority of people are good. I believe people who love their families and give to charity are good. I believe Mother theresa and Martin Luther King, Jr were good. I believe that pedophiles, rapists and homocidal maniacs are bad. I believe Hitler and Lenin were bad.
And then there's stupid. I believe that everyone is stupid in one way or another and that stupid leads people to do bad things. I believe fundamentalists of all religions are stupid. I believe Bush is stupid and that most of the governments of the world have been stupid for a long, long time. I think that they didn't mean to be evil. I believe they thought what they did was good at the time. But they're loobies and bad things happened.
Either you think of people as good, evil or neutral...
Or you think of them as mentally healthy or disturbed. I'm a scientist. I go with the latter.
One was a spider, one was a bird.
Tell me, which one is evil?
I guess that would be why atheists tend to mindlessly discriminate against and kill eachother for totally nonsensical reasons. Being gay, being black, boiling a goat in the milk of its mother- that sort of thing.
For proof, see posts 744371, 744652, 744710, 745084, 745211, 745470. Hate is evil.

Does forehead really rhyme with horrid?
Archaic (well, my grandparents' generation, anyway) English pronunciation of forehead was something between 'fohr ed' and 'fahr ed' (emphasis on the first syllable) which is a close approximation of a rhyme with horrid.
Jim Bakker defrauded his own PTL. He even payed hush money to a woman it was alleged he'd raped. Jimmy Swaggart had affairs with another preacher's wife, and a prostitute. Ted Haggard preached against homosexuality, yet he'd been having an affair with a male prostitute, AND been taking crystal meth.
I've never killed, nor committed rape, nor stolen anything in my life (why should I?). Just tried to live a decent secular progressive life. So in the case of any nutty bugger fundy who commits evil acts, I'd say yes - there IS Good & Evil. And guess who the evil ones are?
Well secular progressives believe that swaying government powers towards religion to commit grave evils in the name of 'God' isn't okay.
Whoops, did I prove your theory wrong?
The 'Saved' Josh Buggar. Meanwhile, the ex -long time Christian Jonathan Edwards, who - after he realised he no longer needed a 'God' to be a good person - recanted of his beliefs and became an Atheist.
One of the above still has a TV career. Can you guess who it is, Bratt...?!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
