Communist governments tend to try to enforce atheism, but not all people who are communist are atheist, and few atheists (in my experience) are communists.
I have had a positive personal experience regarding communism in microcosms, but that's better suited for the forums.
Shouldn't christians, by following their own teachings, naturally be communistic? What with the whole giving to the poor, not being rich, and all that? They'd even be led by their priests!

I can't recommend this series enough (and the sequels; like "Gundam", it's becoming a whole new franchise for Sunrise), with it's warrior maidens whose powers are nanotech-based, and they can only keep them as long as they stay virgins.
This & the spinoff "Mai Otome" have made the mere 'Mahou Shoujo' ("Sailor Moon" etc) genre evolve far beyond sparkly 'transformation sequences' battling the 'monster of the week'. As has the "Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha" series. Kickass females with ultra-powerful weapons.

Christians not in charge IS NOT an Atheist society, Communism was also aiming for a secular society, so it missed, so have many others. The rich aren't supposed to control wars or the financial system either, but in the western world the corruption of wealth is always present. The churchs have always represented much of that wealth and corruption.
