I think it's inevitable unfortunately. Multiculturalism stinks--it's never worked and it never will work. Satan knows it destroys and that's why he pushes it.

Yep, right again:
PAX Romana had a fairly accommodating way so long as you could could cope with being a patrician, plebeian, liberati or slave
BUT NOW: The concept of 'civilized' is just about unrecognizable from 100 years ago. There is the problem law makers face. A hopelessly fracturing society where bible based common law is all but unfathomable to most.
Henry Kissinger nailed it. Zero investment in social capital.
Meme.
Yeah, because no insight can ever be gained from someone else's perspective.
Maybe the real problem is people who are dead certain they're right that they perceive any slight difference as a threat.
@ Jamaican Castle: Oh, I agree. I'd just like to hear one come out and say what they really mean once in a while.
Actually, I'm not entirely sure what 'multiculturalism' even is.
So a group of people whose culture makes acceptable belief in things like Satan and demons and angels should not be able to mix very well with people whose culture positively regards education as a necessity and who accept reality?
Presumably the group of people whose culture makes acceptable belief in Satan, demons and angels should get a along fine with their fellow fairy tale believers from distant shores.
Gee, it's not like people on Rapture Ready to be racist. Before you go knocking multiculturalism, just know that Jesus didn't look like the blonde haired, blue eyed guy in the paintings but like one of those evil brown Middle-Easterners you hate so much.
@Boromir

According to conservatives, it seems to be some evil plan by liberals to force good, God-fearing white people to celebrate evil, dirty, brown-skinned people's culture and religions.
Assuming your an American, Florian9...Number Nine...Number Nine...Turn Me On, Dead Man...etc. I'd say that you've missed the entire point of this great land of E Pluribus Unum!
And what stinks to you is a beautiful fragrance to us! Since you are of the children of the Infernal One Disguised As The Supreme Being, Sulfur is probably like Orchids, Chocolate, Baby Powder & Calvin Klein's Obsession to you.
The multicultural Habsburg Empire lasted around four centuries. The Ottoman Empire managed to be multicultural for about 700 years or so. It was the spread of nationalism, and monoculturalism, that brought about the bloodbaths at the time of its collapse. Monoculturalism has, so far, been responsible for the deaths of many millions of people; multiculturalism not so many.

You'd better get the fuck OUT of the USA, then. [/hyper-smartarse]

Therefore the Pilgrim Fathers = Evil. You said it, Ruptured Retards, I didn't. [/hyper-smartarse II]

Hmmm.whassat ? Oh, Multiculturalism ? Nah, never works.
I love multiculturalism! It exposes us to new ideas, toys, video games & junk food. Actually all kinds of food.
Now I'm craving a huge bowl of udon.
It doesn't work because assholes like you won't LET it work. You hate on other cultures for being diff'rent and furrin and then use the appalled reactions of others toward you and say "See? Look how much they're attacking us!". If we didn't have bigoted fundies then allowing people to follow their own culture (within reason) wouldn't be a bad thing. There's a difference between disallowing certain behaviors because they're bad for society (i.e. not allowing Sharia or Biblical law to become the law of the land) and hating foreigners just because they have a different religion, speak a different language, or wear a different set of clothing.
@The Crimson Ghost
Arguably we wouldn't HAVE video games if it wasn't for Nintendo and Sega (both Japanese companies). Nintendo revived the gaming industry and both Sega and Nintendo redefined the whole industry and set many of the standards we see to this day. Most importantly they took video games out of the realm of being novelty toys and made them into a legitimate form of entertainment for all ages.
@Taiga
And yet these same people will constantly compare people who want to celebrate all cultures to the Nazis. That's the type of warped ideology we're dealing with here.
Ah, when will these people get that America is and always was multicultural? All the people from all the different ends of the world have brought their culture alongside with them or created a new one. And all of those different cultures, with all their different religions, festivals and holidays, cuisine and even languages have been emigranting, integrating and assimilating since the first colonies were founded.
Multiculturalism is like common ownership, it either works because the people want it to or because they are forced to. If it doesn't it's because people see their own benefit before the one of another, may that be by fascistoid need of control or greed.
I agree with this guy. Some people are just not fit to live on this Earth, and I think we should start to get rid of them.
By that I mean anyone who shares this viewpoint at all should be round up and shot for trying to suggest that the planet should belong to one race alone. Asshole.
All this complaining about multiculturalism makes me think of a machine in the Statue of Liberty similar to the conveyor belt in some libraries that automatically checks in and sorts books, but instead when you put non-American things in, American versions come out. If you put in a Beatles CD, you get a Lynyrd Skynyrd CD. If you put in any Christian philosopher's book, you get a Joel Osteen book. If you put in a miniature schnauzer, you get a Boston terrier. All the state mottoes are in American English instead of Latin, and many Europeans are actually Native Americans, even though they look and act exactly like Euro-Americans, and the Statue of Liberty itself, holding a sword, was donated by French Native European Americans to all Native European Americans. The Garden of Eden is obviously in the middle of Oklahoma and is now some old grandma's apple orchard.
Montgomery County Maryland. It has always been a great area to live, if expensive. You fail hard. Now how does it destroy? Why is it in multicultural areas things seem much better, belief systems can actually do well, people generally get a long to some degree, and in the said area I mentioned, it has always been fairly low crime and it withstood for the most part the economy?
I've always wondered why, if Satan does such horrible things, why an omniscient omnipotent God lets Satan get away with it?
Oh, right. Because God wants us to suffer.
Because being a backward, gun-totin', pickup-drivin', Bud-drinkin', God-worshippin' good ol' boy is the only way to live.
Come to think of it, is there really a truly American culture? So much of everything we know or do was brought here by other cultures.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what you conservatards always say... until it works. Like when the 'tards said freed slaves would never be able to cope on their own and how African-Americans in MLB would never work.
"After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. " - Revelation 7:9
If multiculturalism "stinks", then why does Revelation describe heaven as being multicultural?

Fair question.
Multicultural is not the same as multi-ethnic. Multi-cultural is schizophrenic.
@Joe Mama
Cultures don't take long to establish themselves, just a couple of generations. Take a look at a few things that are peculiarly American, or exported to other countries from the US: soda fountains, bologna, root beer, saltines, high school yearbooks, baseball, baby showers, telethons, Thanksgiving...you can think of the rest...
As a well read liberal Jew you'd understand how many time HaShem told Israel to make the stranger and the slave within the borders of Israel observe basic legal requirements.
Even a "fundamental" immutable sort of law.
Obviously details can be added. Its the precept that's important.
ahad ha-am,
you speak for "we" as in "We the people" exactly like SCOTUS speaks for everyone; just because....
multicultural is a younger word
it infact gained much prominence around about
1984 - I bet you and Hasan never knew that.
Ministry of Truth - W. Smith
it's never worked and it never will work.
It must be working because you are whining about it./*snark
So what would multiculturalism destroy anyway? Oh right... Murricuh.

-qaz-.
@Qaz:
That image is a completely false picture of fundie America - it's not got any lite beer. (Also, is it just me, or does the scooter look like the car from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It's even got a little face and everything.)
@P-G:
Either? Both before and after the attack (and other disasters throughout its history), New York has prided itself on its strong multicultural community, particularly their unity in the face of adversity and their tenacity.
Well Jamaica I won't push how long anyone has been using that word..
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

No mention there of a fifth column wanting a one world Caliphate ruling over the dhimmi paying infidels. So if anyone mentions Sharia, or bits of it, bit by bit, step by step, perhaps think on what you really really really do mean by that all glowing feel good word I won't mention again, this thread.
@P-G:
So, got any evidence of this caliphate-loving "fifth column" of yours? I mean, people said the same thing about Catholic immigrants, and Chinese immigrants, the Germans in WW1, the Japanese in WW2 - people accused all of them of having ulterior motives, of being sleeper agents just waiting for the word from the bosses back home. And you know what? They were all wrong. So unless you have some evidence I'd thank you to leave your slanderous accusations at home. You're familiar with the concept of "innocent until proven guilty"? It's a little important to the legal precedent you claim to know so much about. It doesn't stop applying just because someone's a different color.

I admit to only living one year in Saudi Arabia. It genuinely amazes me how many times you tell me what I don't know.
The supposed separation between Mosque and State just isn't there.
And Torah Law isn't a tautology. Neither is Sharia Law. It is descriptive.
Ps. [to fishtank ] I admit to using those other words Fascist/Communist very loosely - really, who isn't these days? I don't think even Karl Marx or Joseph Stalin would have been too dogmatic about a verbatim recital of their meaning
Mussolini himself said that fascism should really be called statism or corporatism
Loosing terms very loosely is one of the reasons why discussions are often very pointless indeed.
Being verbose doesn't make arguments better, it just makes them more annoying to read.
Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power.
thanks fishtank, but as this blog so often records it, who the [copulation criterion for investigation] are you?
I'm sorry, you will need concrete evidence that multiculturalism destroys societies before I will accept your utterly ludicrous statement.
...
... That's what I thought. Stop making up lies because you can't accept that other races exist.
Homeschool hero.
Kali worship, thuggery, skin heads, human sacrifice, cannibalism,
these are all the real history of the world and I have no respect for them. Muhammad was wrong. How much respect does someone wrong deserve?
How much blood has flowed from following Muhammad's creed?
There was a wall between Europe and Islam - millions died or were taken slave.
well, you may want to sit down for what I'm about to say ...
want to know one (of many things) thing that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have in common? they all originated in the middle east. So, unless you're middle eastern, you probably shouldn't be christian because to do so, would be a form of multiculturalism since it is of a middle eastern culture.
@PG2013
I take the first line as sarcasm.
Sharia mean God's Law in Islam. Torah means the Books of Moses (the first five books in both the Tanakh and the Bible) in Judaism. The equivalent to saying Torah Law would be saying Qu'ran Law. But then, you did try to copyright your name. Your name is trademarked since the day you are born. There is a difference.
Communism - a political ideology based on the book by <s>Groucho</s> Karl Marx, which is based around communal ownership of the means of production and rewards based on labor (not merit).
Fascism - a political ideology based on the idea of people being bound together as the State, and power of the organism always goes before individual rights
The word comes from <URL=http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascis>fasces<URL>.
Torah (n.)
"the Pentateuch," 1570s, from Hebrew torah, literally "instruction, law ," verbal noun from horah "he taught, showed."
emphasis added
so wrong Fräulein.
\
books of the Torah means the same as books of the Law,
The books of Law making up one of the three section to the Tanach
or books of Moshe/ Moses.
Confused?
