Yeah, they kinda do because at least 47.6% of athiests if not more have some kind of mental disorder or are gay or BOTH !!!!! All I have to say is turn your life over to Jesus Christ and watch your life change.....Is there an athiest out there that can honestly tell all of us that they are at peace with themselves ??? Remember, I said HONESTLY ??? Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.....Thanks be to GOD and I am proud to be Catholic.!!! ......I agree 100% with Anonymous for the simple fact that how can you trust someone who is devoid of all moral character???? That explains alot more than I could even say....GREAT POINT !!!!

Show me he exists, is who his followers claim him to be--i.e. god incarnate--rather than what he himself claimed in the Gospels and that this god of yours isn't the psychotic madman that's depicted in the OT and we'll talk.

I would agree. Fortunately being an atheist doesn't mean you have no moral character. Nor does being religious mean you do.

Actually szena said exactly what I intended to say concerning this.

As a rule I prefer more positive changes in life. getting in to the fundy mindset of repression, anti-intelectualism and so on quite frankly isn't for me.

Yes I remember, I am quite at peace with myself and I know a lot of other atheists who are likewise. Now please point me to fundy who's at peace with himself, so far I have yet to see one.

I don't know, I've never met such a person, although I can tell from your ranting that I wouldn't trust you. Also I think that you once again hit the question mark key a bit too hard... repeatedly.

I have a hard time believing someone whose writing sounds so very desperate is at peace with themselves or even a little enlightened. I see this all the time: religious people freaking out on one side while the not as religious people calmly try to explain their point. Obviously their are exceptions, but this is usually what I see.

Enlightenment shows in a person's actions. If someone is panicked and bossy, then they aren't at peace; it is evident. If someone is slow to panic or get angry and calmly explains themselves or empathizes, then it is evident that they are more enlightened. What one believes, or doesn't believe, rarely even enters into the equation.

I guess I, and almost everyone I know, fit into the 52,4 % of atheists that have a perfect mental health and are straight. Most of us were Christian (more or less) at some time of our lives, but then we learned too much about religion and weren't able to take it seriously any longer.

Are YOU, honestly, at peace with yourself? I am, more or less. I've reached that level of maturity that says "It doesn't matter, really, what other people think about you. What you think about yourself is much more important.". I haven't actually learned to listen to that voice yet, but it is getting louder and louder in my ears and mind. :-)

Moral character? You mean like they have in Northern Ireland, and Palestine/Israel, and Iraq and Afghanistan? If that is moral character, I'd rather be without, thank you very much. I would never be able to kill a human being, unless he was running at me with a knife or a gun, and I'd probably rather trip him or kick him, even then. I have a hard enough time to kill spiders, moths, mosquitoes, ants and mice.
