I'm glad my state is having a ballot to decide if a "fetus" is a person (go to thread "Colorado May Ban Abortion" for the info) so that I know that there are some sane people out there. It took thousands of signatures to get it on the ballot.

I have a question? If killing a potential human is just as bad as killing a normal human, then wouldn't arresting a potential criminal be as beneficial to society as arresting a normal criminal. I mean look at all these potential criminals walking around un-arrested, who knows what potential crimes they might commit.

you are foolish and ignorant. You're one of the many who believe Planned Parenthood only does pregnacy terminations. Do you not know they provide pre-natal care, pap-smears, hormone replacement therapy, etc.? Or maybe you do but ignore the fact. Yeah....when a PP is bombed by half wit fundies you may kill a woman who is 8 months pregnant or a post menopausal woman wanting HRT. You guys make me sick.

During the late 20th and early 21st century, the internet changed the accepted structure of debate. The old practice of defending your viewpoint with logic, and outlining the flaws in your opponent's reasoning was gone, replaced with a frantic race to see who could be first to draw a parallel between one's opponent and the Nazi's. When the 2012 U.S election was decided soley on the basis of which candidate's name was a closer to being an anagram of 'Hitler', God lost faith in humanity, and flung the earth into Hell.

"Teenage" Republican. In my book teenagers (most teenagers anyway) aren't fully human yet and are prone to stupidity. So, I will let TeenageRepublican off the hook for the moment because s/he hasn't fully developed yet and may change his/her mind some day.

Mr Frog -- I work in a large, public high school. There are indeed many teenagers with short-sighted, greedy and/or wildly idealistic opinions. There are also many teenagers wise well beyond their years. I my program there are quite a number I would rather have driving, voting and belaying me off a cliff than many, many adults I've known. Just because someone has been alive longer doesn't mean they've been paying better attention.

You lose, Hitler was one of you. Under Nazi law, abortion was punishable by death by hanging for the person performing the abortion and 7 years hard labor in a concentration camp for the person receiving the abortion. Of course, being a teenage republican you have probably never read any history, and are being nose-led by Rush and GOPFOXNEWS, so feeding you facts and trying to make you think for yourself is probably wasted effort.

Obviously in the old testimony there is a passage that describes a process of abortion that is to be undertaken if the woman has commited adultery:
"And when he hath made her drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people. And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed."
So, obviously, god isn´t against abotion ;)
@ Eden ~ yes there's that point. There's also the point that God does not consider a person a person until it's a month old (probably because a lot of babies died in the first month). Then there's the fact that if someone injures a woman and causes a spontaneous abortion, they have to pay a fine to the father.
God and the Bible are not pro-life. But have we ever had a fundie on here who actually read their bible?

I'm also from Colorado and ashamed that I share a state with complete idiots.
They're being so one-minded about this issue they fail to realize the total implications of granting personhood to a fetus. How will they address miscarriages? How will they determine who, when and how a pregnancy occured? Will women be required to take pregnancy tests every month? Will women be allowed to use birth control? If a woman is know to be pregnant and still persues an abortion, what will her punishment be?
You see, it is a complicated issue. Where do you draw the line on which life, the pregnant woman or the fetus, is more important?? You can't. You can't alter the constitution to protect one life over another.
