[The quote is a description of Hezbollah in the middle east]
[If I told you there was a significant group that violently defended their weapons, insisted on making religion the basis for law and morality, blocked laws aiming to abolish discrimination based on gender, race, religion or sexual orientation, rejected the authority of the central government and its right to collect taxes, threatened to secede or take over the country by force if necessary, and called everyone who opposed them in the least traitors to the nation and subhuman scum... what would you call them in the US?]
Leftists.

Since when, and on what planet, are republicans considered "leftists?"
You, sir, are the dumbest motherfucker I've seen today.
Not very self-aware are they?
Either that or they don't want to admit that the Progressive is right & ScutUGLY is wrong.
So they purposely "miss the point" and respond with a trolly answer since they are subhuman vomit-heads.
You surely jest. That's the perfect description of the Tea Party, if not Republicans in general.
Sounds like this response is just a typical conservative knee-jerk reaction in that anything bad = liberals.
ScottLC and his pals of the GOP wingnut section fit better this description.
Ah, the Tea Party looks like a leftist group to him?
Oh, you mean like World War II, when American right-wingers like the American Bund and Father Coughlin thought Hitler was a real swell guy because he was killing commies, refused to support arming Britain and refused to shelter European Jews (never mind Rom, Communists and never, ever dah gay).
Or maybe you mean how, when things get tough, the right-wingers suddenly throw your support behind a Russian authoritarian, ex-communist, ex-KGB agent?
Jebus, what a waste of air.

"[If I told you there was a significant group that violently defended their weapons..."
No, the leftists (or, rather, the less-rightists here in the US) are the ones struggling against the right of citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones from harm using weapons. Just ask them. (The room temperature suddenly drops about 20 degrees (11C) as Rat glares in Anon-e-moose's general direction.)
Regarding the rest of this verbal train-wreck-- *shudders* --Holy jumpin' Jesus balls, this guy is projecting so hard, he could run an entire IMAX theater all by himself.

"If you call the Teabaggers 'Leftists', I don't think I want to know who you call 'Rightists'."
Seconded, oh so very much.
Well, Rat, you'd get that sort of reaction because what you just did amounts to a massive sweeping generalization over the beliefs of a broad political spectrum while trying to simplify a contentious issue.
Which is absurd, don't do that, it's intellectually bankrupt.
Time once again for Republican Space Rangers!
When argument fails, trot out the cartoons. If that doesn't work, try hand puppets.
Either he was responding to another post entirely or he's straight trolling.
I am sorry but there is no way, NO POSSIBLE GODDAMNED WAY, short of substituting or deleting at least fifty words words in that paragraph to conclude left-wing politics.
Hahahah... That's a lot of fail, even by Liberty Dumb Bells standards.

So are the Conservative Tea Puppets in favor of laws that prohibit discriminating against teh gays, women, and other minorities? Since the leftist are the ones against them, apparently, and all...
@ Da Rat Bastid : Leftists struggle to enact gun legislation to protect themselves, their loved ones, and innocent people from gun violence. But then there are also people who don't identify as lefties and are also tired of America's insane gun culture. Hyperbole and gun clutching runs rampant while people continue to be killed.
[If I told you there was a significant group that violently try to take away people's weapons, insisted on abolishing religious morality as the basis of law, blocked laws aiming to protect religious freedom, rejected the authority of state government and its right to limited sovereignty, threatened to burn their opposition in fire, and called everyone who opposed them in the least traitors to the nation and subhuman scum... what would you call them in the US?]
Rightists.
Let's see:
Insists on 2nd Amendment rights and opposes gun control;
Thinks "separation of church and state" doesn't exist and the US was founded as a "Christian nation";
Opposes gay rights and thinks women belong in the kitchen, not the workplace;
Wants to downsize the Federal government and eliminate most of its non-military functions;
Claims the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified;
Claims the Second Amendment was put in the Constitution to allow armed insurrection against a government they don't agree with;
Wants to impeach Obama and claim he's committed treason ...
Yup, sounds like a leftist to me [/sarcasm]
That is actually quite interesting. If you strip down the right’s agenda to its core points but avoid using the usual buzz words their leaders normally spout, they suddenly realize that these are bad things.
And since they have been indoctrinated to think “bad things = liberal”, they actually assign their own goals to their political opponents
The rest of the post should have been posted as well.
He thinks "The left has historically fought against all efforts to limit discrimination. Slavery, women's suffrage, Civil Rights in the 50's and 60's.
I wonder if he means the left was against all of this, which is wrong as they were the ones supporting it, or thinks all of these things not being allowed is discrimination.
I'm guess the later as they use the religious freedom bullshit right after this.

"Well, Rat, you'd get that sort of reaction because what you just did amounts to a massive sweeping generalization over the beliefs of a broad political spectrum while trying to simplify a contentious issue."
Oh, I'm sure there are people on the Left* here in the U.S. who hold the Second Amendment in high regard, as well as people on the Right who don't, but their voices don't seem to be anywhere nearly as loud as those on their respective ends of the Left-Right axis who hold the opposing views. My generalization isn't as far off the mark as you make it out to be.
* Yes, Europeans, I know that, by the standards of the rest of the world, we here in Yankee-Land don't really have a Leftist party of any significance. I'm talking purely about U.S. politics, though, so please bear with me.
This can't be real.
This is so far off the mark that it is unbelievable. He just described the American right and pinned the description on leftists. Not that the U.S. really has any mainstream leftists.
Can't be, just can't be real.
Sovereign shitizens, religious fundamentalists (emphasis on mental), the militia movement, the Tea Party...
Confused?
