It certainly does happen today. In fact, I think it is much more common than we realize it is. I believe the majority of people who are in mental instutions are under some kind of demonic opressions.
I also believe those who abuse druge submit themselves to demonic opression.
However - the saved cannot be indwelled by a demon. That space is filled by the Holy Spirit!

There are no such things as demons. They're a leftover from the days when people thought anything they couldn't explain - lightning, the Plague, floods, earthquakes etc. - must have been caused by God getting angry at someone. Since the discovery of things like lightning rods, antibiotics, weather predictions, seismology, etc., we know that either God had nothing to do with it or He's easily defeated.

But you have to remember, for someone who believes in God (like myself), God knows what is going to happen, he knows if there's going to be an earthquake at a certain location at a certain time.

Well, the Bible says that all plants, including the ones with drugs, are fair game. Then again, I'm expecting a Bible-believing Christian to read the Bible. Silly me.
Isn't it remarkable how, when intimidating the bad thoughts out of people doesn't work, that Christianity even has a mechanism for denying that the person is responsible for those thoughts in the first place?
I'm glad I grew up Catholic -- as much as the Catholic idea of demonic posession is the prototype for the rest of the culture, Catholicism really has very little to say about posession. I can't imagine what it's like living in a culture where even your own thoughts are not completely yours.
