I was talking with a friend about the current direction of our government (what Catholic, Christian, or conservative individual isn't) and asked their thoughts. The only thing they are planning (or thinking that may happen) is that they'll have to hide their dear pastor friend in their house if things become detrimental for religious. I was saying that I'm thinking of storing cash somewhere other than a bank in case we had to flee in the middle of the night. I know, crazy talk, right? Well, just curious if there are any other crazies out there (I know there are). What real plans are you making/preparing for?

And where are you planning to flee? America is probably one of the best places to be, if you are a crazy religious person. Maybe Afganistan or Iran, if you REALLY like the government to force the religious rules on their subjects. Lots of fundies there, at least...

As a liberal Catholic, I have to chime in here.
First of all, clink the link and you'll find some posters mocking this post (my favorite being the suggestion about stockpiling your moonshine).
Secondly, yes, there are some nutty ultra-conservative Catholics. The interesting thing is that very few of those are regular cradle Catholics. They are either converts from fundamentalism (old habits die hard) or reverts who have dabbled in fundamentalism or strayed very far from all religion and then came back to the Church.
So don't blame the rest of us for the nutcases.
You know, there is no need for a comma between Catholic and Christian, they sort of go together.
Where are you planning to flee? US of A is one of the most religious country in the world. Maybe a few of the more Fundamentalist Muslim countries can compete.
Too bad you're not living in England, some old houses there already have priest holes, from the time of Queen Elisabeth I, when it was illegal to hold Catholic Masses. really had a reason to scream "PERSECUTION", the Catholics of the late 1500's.
