Just take a look at the past 1,000 years and how far we have come. Did evolution speed up to the point that it just doesnt exist anymore? Where is the evolution today? Why arent monkeys turning into humans today? Its because it never happened.

Correct! Monkeys never turned into humans. However, humans and monkeys both evolved from a common proto-primate ancestor, and (here's the good bit) that common ancestor is no longer around because the species evolved.

Unfortunately, the theory of evolution doesn't say modern monkeys turned into men, it says man and monkey have a common ancestor somewhere in our distant past.
And perhaps modern monkeys are turning into men (though not H. sapiens, obviously), but it'll likely be another 10 million years before we know for sure.

Why are Fundies still asking this ridiculous question? Oh, wait, yeah, I think I know why.
We did not evolve from modern monkeys, we share a common ancestor with them millions of years in the past, over millions of years we diverged from them, each population evolving generation by generation to best suit the environment they found themselves in.
Also, cultural change != biological evolution. Evolution takes many many generations, which is why experiments in population genetics and such are generally done with species with shorter generation times then humans, such as fruit flies and mold.
- Human evolution has slowed down dramatically due to our altruistic desire to help those with genetic disadvantages. Y'know, like how we prevent fundies from eating the lead paint.
- Evolution in animals can be observed in any species whose life cycle is measured in days. Unfortunately anything longer exceeds human lifetimes or attention spans.
- MONKEYS DONT TURN INTO HUMANS! 'Tard. Learn what something is before you try to criticize it. It takes thousands of years and many tiny steps for a monkey-like creature's offspring to eventually become human.
Here we go again! Okay explain the bacteria that become resistant to anitbiotics, vermin that become resistant to rat-poisons, etc, etc.
