(Thread Title: I am boycoting the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco they promote evolution.)
So I took my lovely wife and our 3 beautiful children to the Steinhart Aquarium ( California Academy of Sciences ) in San Francisco last weekend while we were attending the marriage of a friend. It turns out that the Aquarium is pushing a massive agenda of trying to proselytize to children that evolution is real, as in we evolved from single cell organisms and not from God. They also claimed that the universe was created from a single unit of Dark Matter and not divinely created by our lord God. They had noted Liberal Whoopie Goldberg narrating the explanation for the creation of the universe during the Planetarium show. They would not allow people to leave who were offended by the show either, they forced us to continue to watch the lies.
On top of all this they also had a huge exhibit about global warming claiming that it is going to kill us all when the reality is global warming is a lie as revealed by the emails of the scientists fabricating evidence.
As a child I remembered going to the Aquarium and marveling at all the exhibits and animals and wanted to share the experience with my children, unfortunately after their renovations they removed most of the animals and made it a huge billboard for spreading liberal anti god bias in a format that is aimed towards children.
I wish I could find an Aquarium or Zoo that address the divine aspects of creation and existence instead of constantly forcing squares into circle slots.
Is anyone else tired of 'science' presenting these theories ( some of which have been dis proven like evolution) as absolute fact to our children?

Dude, you're in San Francisco. Complaining about something being liberal there is like complaining about getting wet after falling into the ocean - NO DUH.
Where are you guys from? Nebraska? How the hell do you even know anybody in San Francisco, anyway?
(The fact that this is on Gamefaqs makes me want to call poe, though.)
Out of all of this, the only thing that interests me is "they would not allow people to leave who were offended by the show"
Hmm, I kinda doubt this is true.
@Sandwich Board:
Wow, you have so much to tell....*looks down*, oh. Damn that movie was weird

Maybe you should visit Dinosaur Adventure Land by Kent Hovind as long it is still open (that means, if it still is). They may not have many animals, but many self made replicas of "fossils" of which they think they disprove evolution. And they are actively sprrading the creationist propaganda.
If, however, you are looking for a real zoo or Aquarium (run by real scientists with real scientific degrees [i.e. not degrees from some diploma mill]) I assume you won´t find any that doesn´t accept the theory of evolution as true ;)
"single unit of Dark Matter"
No. Current speculation suggests that the universe may be the result of the rapid expansion of a singularity.
"global warming is a lie as revealed..."
No. Some evidence was revealed to be fabricated. The rest still stands.
The problem is that aquariums and zoos are devoted to the promotion of science. As such, they will teach your children science. You obviously have problems with this.
1. I am not surprised to learn that a science museum is promoting science.
2. I'm pretty sure that they didn't forcibly keep you in the planetarium show, although they may have shushed you when you started yelling.
3. The Steinhart is a beautiful museum--I encourage everyone who can handle actual science to come, and bring their children. My mother recommends them highly.

In the UK we have a Creationist zoo, Noah's Ark Farm Zoo near Bristol which is a cover for forcing fundamentalism on kids.
As you'd expect from fundies they're some deceitful bastards. In fact, a few weeks ago they were expelled from the Zoo's trade association, the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums, for bringing the trade into disrepute after the Captive Animals Protection Society (CAPS)filmed secret footage at Noah's Ark Farm Zoo.
NAFZ is still selling itself as an educational day out for schools though:

That's an obvious, direct contradiction. And it was posted on Gamefaqs, which has nothing to do with fundies to begin with. So yeah. Poe.
"I wish I could find an Aquarium or Zoo that address the divine aspects of creation and existence"
Well, good luck with that, idiot.
I have never seen any indoctrination of creationism or evolution in any aquarium, aside from one notice that "horseshoe crabs have been basically the same for 100 million years."
That was when I was a staunch YEC. I wasn't offended, though. Even at the age of 10, I realized that people believe what they believe, and no outside force is going to change most peoples' minds.
I'm tired of absolute fucktards living in the modern world, taking all of the obvious benefits of knowledge and then turning their back on the reasoning that got us here to begin with, get the fuck out of my society, you imbecile.
"It turns out that the Aquarium is pushing a massive agenda of trying to proselytize to children that evolution is real, as in we evolved from single cell organisms and not from God"
How do we evolve From " God"?
Good to know that your wife is lovely and your children are beautiful. It has SUCH an impact in the story you're telling...
What you're saying about the Aquarium - that is how all museums and the likes are organized over here. No-one is complaining, really.
Citation needed for the "dis proven" theory of evolution.
Is anyone else tired of 'science' presenting these theories ( some of which have been dis proven like evolution) as absolute fact to our children?
I'll tell you what I'm tired of, creationist cretins like you who have never bothered to look up the science they so easily dismiss as "lies" complaining when they go to a scientific exhibit that there is no mention of god. There is a reason for that but you are too fucking thick to understand it.
I feel sorry for your children and I hope some day their eyes are opened to the reality of our universe and they tell you to take your Bronze Age mythology and shove it up your ass.
I'm tired of creationists trying to pass their religious dogma off as fact. I think evolution is most likely what happened, due to the mountain of evidence for it as well as the fact that we can observe small changes in populations.
As for global warming, the term is somewhat inaccurate. Climate change, somewhat that is very noticeably happening all over the world.
I also doubt that they actually forced you to stay at the show. They might have asked people not to leave, but actual force is uncharacteristic of such institutions. There are Creationist "museums" out there, but every scrap of "evidence" they have to disprove science can be torn apart by common sense and a basic understanding of scientific principles.
Take for example the "fossilized" clothing. All they did was make it appear aged; carbon dating won't work on them because they're too new. If making things appear to be something else makes them something else, then by that logic the career I'm looking at means that I'll be taking human actors and turning them into actual monsters.
@WMDKitty
This HAS to be a Poe. Look at the username.
I think Soylent Green is too much of a pop culture icon to be certain that folks who reference it know what they're talking about. People will make a joke out of it just 'cause it sounds cool.
"instead of constantly forcing squares into circle slots. '
No doubt about it, you certainly are squares.
There is a zoo run by creationists in South West England.
I managed to go round that and not be offended by th utter claptrap.
Then again, the zoo in question is in trouble with the aoos and aquariums people for dealing with an animal circus.
Lol, yea right. They probably told you to sit the fuck down because you were trying to be loud and stop the show or something.
By the way, we evolved from God? KICKASS.
I wish I could find an Aquarium or Zoo that address the divine aspects of creation and existence instead of constantly forcing squares into circle slots.
No one would trust a bunch of animals to a nut like that.
Here's something for SoilentGreenz to put on a plaque next to his goldfish bowl, just print the following on to a small rectangle of paper 1" long by 1/2" wide:- GODDIDIT.
This will save millions of man hours in intensive research, millions of miles of travel, often involving considerable hardship, a great deal of money and time spent in education, reading and comprehending text books, and will please many religious fundamentalists and, apparently, many right-wingers.
Imagine, just 60 seconds with a printer, scissors and glue, and you're done. Your own homemade museum that you'll be proud to show to your neighbours and will make your children the envy of the western world, and so proud of their super-scientific dad.
I'm sorry, but I am very confused
Fundies are always telling us that the world will end in the next five minutes, but when they are presented with evidence that a cataclysmic global tragedy could take place because of our behavior they won't believe it
"... forcing squares into circle slots"
Given that circular slots compose the majority of the shelters in the environment.
You do know that if a square is a species of organisms, they would've evolved into a smaller form over several generations to fit the circle slot.
So, if we evolved from God, as you say, then we are clearly superior to God, then.
Because that's totally how evolution works.
Core difference between atheists and theists:
If an atheist got to watch a planetarium show depicting creationist beliefs, they laugh.
If a theist gets to watch a planetarium show depicting secular science, they panic and are outraged.
Tells me a bit about the foundation of said beliefs.
Avoiding an aquarium because it advocates evolution, eh?
Might want to stay away from any GP's aswell...
@Eden
I live, unfortunetly, in Pensacola. The place has long been shut down, since the land was obtained illegally. Yup, tax fraud and property fraud.
From the 'Dinosaur Adventure Land' website:
Sunday: Closed
Monday: Closed
Tuesday: Closed
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: Closed
Friday: Closed
Saturday: Closed
How sweet is that? The only sour note is that the bookstore's apparently still open.
Because a bible run aquarium would look like this:
"We don't know why or how the octopus changes its color because there ain't shit about it in the bible and since we don't actually do any research, we're clueless!"
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
