The Left cannot see both sides of any issue. They cannot (or dare not) treat any rival viewpoints with respect, not even the respect needed to address or refute them. This alleviates the Left from the burden of actually meeting a burden of proof, indeed, of actually making any argument at all. They just ask opposing viewpoints to shut up.

The great selling point of the Left, the great promise of PC, is that all issues are orthodox and settled, and the great debate of the human condition, all the mysteries of life, no longer are open to discussion. The matter is closed. Talk must stop. Correct thinking is true; incorrect thinking is heresy. You must shut up. You must shut up. You must shut up.

And the burden of human reasoning, the torment of the paradoxes of life, the need for learning, education, or curiosity is done away with. Everything the faithful need know can be printed on a bumper sticker, and chanted as a mantra or a mob-slogan at a rally.

It would be an insult to religion to call this a religion. Real religions take their theology seriously, and debate hairsplitting nuances of phrase over centuries to arrive at precise truth. Cults are not serious. Cult chant slogans. Leftism is a cult.

He's right about one sentence:
I don't respect many people on the hard right to debate them.
When somebody is shrieking that atheists are scared that a god would mean they have to be moral, that it's good to beat children because he's entitled to have his bubble undisturbed while in a public place and some crying kid intruded in it, that rape victims were asking for it, that they're automatically superior to most of mankind thanks to their sex and skin colour without having to achieve anything personally, that whenever someone else was more qualified for a job it's affirmative action that stole it from them, I don't feel like digging through books and websites to support sound and thorough arguments. I just think "wow, what a contemptible asshole!"

Maybe someone who really loves debating can handle it, but I don't think handling that much poop is my calling.

You don't actually know anyone who's left-wing, do you? Spend five minutes with Trotskyists and you'll find 100 ideological reasons why the Revolutionary Workers' Party of Ruritania hates the Workers' Revolutionary Party of Ruritania, and both of them hate the Revolutionary Communist Party of Ruritania (substitute for such groups in your own country).

Which is why there are hundreds of quotes here and other places by fundies intolerant of academics, scientists and others who teach.And hundreds more in outrage about the things those academics, scientists and others find out.

As a former staunch conservative (who now finds himself firmly to the left of what passes for "liberalism" here in the US), I have to say that this comment right here is an absolute hoot.

One of realities that first slapped me out of my previous way of thinking was the recognition that, the second you refuse to toe the line of orthodox conservative thought, you are almost instantly labelled a "RINO" (Republican-in-name-only) and deemed to be lacking in intelligence and credibility. Question a key tenet and your are consigned to that nebulous nether-region known as "liberalism." I questioned the exact same policies under Bush that conservatives rail against under Obama ("on principle", they claim) and was denounced for my efforts.

Conversely, the only "orthodoxy" I've noticed on the left is a straw man that exists solely in the minds of right-wing ideologues. These people are insane and I'm glad I found my way out of their political cult.

The only "seig Heil" equivalant I've heard is "U.S.A., U.S.A.," yelled by a tenth of the REPUBLICAN crowd repeatedly WHEN SOMEONE EXERCISES THEIR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH.

Tea-Party and Republican campaign stops. Getting way too much acceptance in national campaigns. C'mon Deep South, being Jethro Bodine or that racist Theocrat is no criteria to elect someone to high office.

No one has infringed on your right to speak. It's invaliable to 'know your enemy' strategy and mindset.

Thanks for admitting you're a total joke on denomiational issues. Jim Jones' sect was closer to Evangelism then Catholic or Algican. he was born of Evangalistic principles and Dogma.
The Christianities are seperated by continious differences, odd, since you all claim the books are clear.
